Senior Backend Engineer

Backend Engineer (Python / FastAPI / GraphQL)Full-Time position in New York CityHybrid (4 days/month onsite)We’re looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer to help build and scale the core infrastructure powering our growing application suite.Design, build, and maintain APIs, databases, and backend infrastructureCollaborate with Product, Frontend, Data Platform, and Infrastructure teams to define requirements and deliver high-performance applicationsDevelop scalable backend architecture to support long-term platform growthWork in an Agile environment using modern engineering and delivery practicesYou’ll work at the intersection of LLMs, NLP, document parsing, and financial data, building proprietary algorithms, improving extraction pipelines, and shipping clean APIs that power real-world financial decision-making.Required:7+ years of experience in a startup, financial institution, or technology companyStrong backend Python expertise, especially with FastAPISolid experience with REST and GraphQL APIsGood understanding of databases and data warehousing conceptsExperience with DevOps practices (CI/CD, QA, deployment workflows)Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fieldYou are:Self-driven and proactive; you take ownership and bring ideas forwardA strong communicator who works well across technical and non-technical teamsOrganized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environmentNice to have:Experience with PostGraphileHands-on AWS experienceFrontend exposure (React, Next.js)Experience working with financial data or clients
