We're a high-growth technology company with teams across New York, New Delhi, and London, and we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale the systems behind our platform.Location: New Delhi, India (in-person required)About the RoleWe're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical backend systems end-to-end — from design through production. You'll work across a modern polyglot stack (Go, Python, Node.js) while helping us evolve legacy PHP services, and you'll build on GCP at a company where engineering velocity is a competitive advantage. This is a high-ownership role for someone who wants to shape technical direction, not just execute tickets.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIsDevelop primarily in Go, Python, and Node.js, while supporting and evolving existing PHP services where neededDesign and optimize data models, queries, and persistence layers using PostgreSQL and MySQLBuild and operate cloud-native systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Own backend features end-to-end — from technical design through deployment, monitoring, and production supportImprove system reliability, performance, observability, and maintainabilityCollaborate closely with product, frontend, mobile, and other teams on architecture and deliveryContribute to technical direction, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentorship of other engineersUse AI-assisted and agentic coding tools/workflows to accelerate development, testing, debugging, and documentation while maintaining strong engineering judgment and code qualityCore Experience6+ years of professional backend engineering experience, at a Senior Engineer level or equivalentStrong proficiency with Go, Python, and Node.js, with hands-on experience across all threeExperience maintaining or developing production applications in PHPStrong SQL and relational database experience with PostgreSQL and MySQLProduction experience with GCP and cloud-based application architectureExperience designing and operating REST APIs, distributed services, and asynchronous/background processingStrong understanding of software architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and production operationsComfortable diagnosing complex production issues across applications, databases, and infrastructureExperience using AI coding assistants, coding agents, or agentic software-development workflows in real engineering workAbility to work independently, make sound technical trade-offs, and take ownership of complex backend systemsExperience with containers, Docker, and modern observability toolsBased in or willing to relocate to New Delhi; this is an in-office role, not remote or hybridNice to HaveExperience with event-driven architectures, queues, or messaging systemsExperience modernizing legacy systems or incrementally migrating services between technologiesExperience in fast-moving product or startup environmentsWhy BarsysJoin a fast-scaling team building category-defining hardware and ad-tech infrastructure for a multi-billion-dollar industry, with real ownership over systems used at scale from day one.Please send your resume to sepideh@barsys.com
