Senior Backend Engineer

WESTAY is a next-generation luxury travel ecosystem designed for the world’s most discerning travelers, integrating ultra-luxury hospitality, private aviation, yachting, and curated destination experiences into one seamless global platform, redefining how sophisticated travelers discover, plan, and experience the world.About the role:Key Responsibilities:• Design and implement scalable backend systems and microservices using Node.js aligned with performance and reliability best practices. • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, ensuring adherence to API standards like OpenAPI, with occasional use of GraphQL. • Write clean, reusable, and testable backend code with a strong emphasis on performance, scalability, and maintainability. • Design, implement, and optimize both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases; fine tune indexing and queries for high throughput. • Lead technical architecture decisions, code reviews, and system design sessions with a focus on scalable, modular service architecture (monolith-to-microservice migrations). • Handle inter-service communication using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems. • Implement and maintain backend security features including JWT, OAuth2, rate limiting, data masking, and protection against SQLi, XSS, CSRF. • Collaborate closely with frontend, mobile, and DevOps teams in an Agile environment for integration, CI/CD support, and system deployment on AWS/Azure cloud platforms. • Write unit, integration, and contract tests using tools like Jest, Mocha, or JUnit, and participate in continuous delivery pipelines. • Maintain backend documentation, including API specs (Swagger/Postman), service runbooks, and architectural diagrams. Required Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). • 5+ years of experience designing and developing backend systems, APIs, and microservices at scale. • Proficiency in Node.js and with working knowledge of backend frameworks such as Express.js, Django, or Spring Boot. • Strong understanding of REST and GraphQL API standards; experience with OpenAPI/Swagger documentation. • Hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and performance optimization strategies. • Familiarity with microservices architecture, including legacy system decomposition and cloud-native service deployment. • Comfortable with dev tools and workflows: Git, Docker, Postman, Swagger. • Experience deploying services on AWS, Azure, or other major cloud platforms, often in collaboration with DevOps teams.
