If you enjoy owning architecture end-to-end and helping a team grow, we'd love to hear from you.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🔹 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Design and architect scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems (microservices, event-driven architecture).- Develop robust APIs and services using Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS.- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code (unit, integration, and e2e tests).- Own cloud infrastructure on AWS: deployment, monitoring, cost optimization, and scaling.- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code.- Optimize application performance, database queries, and system scalability.- Collaborate with front-end developers, product, and QA teams to deliver features end-to-end.- Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.- Mentor junior developers and help raise engineering standards.- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🔹 REQUIREMENTS▸ Experience & Education- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.- 5+ years of backend development experience with Node.js, including strong hands-on experience with NestJS.▸ Core Backend Skills- Strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, including asynchronous programming (Promises, async/await).- Deep understanding of system design: microservices, RESTful API design, event-driven architecture, scalability, and high availability.- Experience with relational databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), including schema design and query optimization.- Experience with authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth, Passport.js, RBAC).- Experience with caching (Redis or similar) and message queues (SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar).- Knowledge of WebSockets/Socket.IO for real-time communication.- Strong testing experience with Jest (or Mocha/Chai).- Solid understanding of application security (SQL injection, XSS, CSRF, DDoS mitigation, OWASP Top 10).▸ Cloud & DevOps- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudFront, SQS/SNS, IAM, VPC, Route 53, and CloudWatch.- Experience with Docker and container orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes).- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins or CircleCI).- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK).- Experience with PM2 or similar process managers, and with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog, ELK).▸ Soft Skills- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.- Strong communication and collaboration skills.- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.- A mentoring and leadership mindset.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━🔹 NICE TO HAVE- Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or CQRS/Event Sourcing.- Knowledge of profiling and load-testing tools (k6, Artillery).- Experience with multi-tenant or high-traffic systems.- AWS certification (Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer).━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━HOW TO APPLYSend your CV to ibrahim@burraqaim.com with the subject line "Senior Backend Engineer", or apply directly through this post.
