Senior Backend Engineer — Video Streaming Platform

About SeeraSeera is an Arabic-language microdrama streaming platform built for the MENA market. We produce and distribute short-form vertical series and monetize through a hybrid model of in-app coins and subscriptions. We're a small founding team with a distributed engineering group across Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, scaling the platform to handle rapid growth in viewers, content, and transactions.The roleYou'll own a large share of Seera's backend: the APIs that power our mobile and web apps, and the AWS infrastructure they run on. You'll work directly with the CTO and our engineering manager, and you'll shape how we architect video delivery, payments, and content operations as we grow from thousands to millions of users. This is a senior, high-ownership role — we're looking for someone who has already built and operated systems at scale and wants to do it again with more autonomy.What you'll doDesign, build, and maintain backend APIs for content catalog, playback, accounts, entitlements, coin wallets, and subscriptionsOwn our AWS environment end to end: architecture, IaC, IAM, networking, cost management, observability, and CI/CDBuild and operate the video pipeline — ingest, transcoding, packaging (HLS/DASH), DRM, and CDN delivery — optimized for mobile networks across MENAIntegrate third-party services (payments, carrier billing, ad mediation, analytics) reliably and securelyEstablish monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices for a consumer streaming productRaise the engineering bar: technical design docs, code review, and mentoring across a distributed teamWhat we're looking for5–8 years building production backend systems, with at least some of that on consumer products at meaningful scaleDeep hands-on AWS experience - ECS/EKS or Lambda, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, MediaConvertExperience with video systems, transcoding, adaptive bitrate streaming, CDN configuration, or DRM strongly preferredStrong judgment on API design, auth, data modeling, caching, and performance under loadComfortable working autonomously in a remote, async-first team across multiple time zonesProfessional working proficiency in English; Arabic is a plus but not requiredNice to havePayments or subscription billing systemsPrior startup or 0→1 experienceWhat we offerFull-time employment with direct ownership of core infrastructure at an early-stage streaming companyFully remote within Eastern Europe, Azerbaijan or MENASalary 2.000USD/month
