REPORTS TO: VP/Director of Business Affairs LOCATION: Remote (2 openings: EST and PST schedules available)POSITION OVERVIEW: The Senior Business Affairs Manager is a key client-facing leader responsible for driving client success and serving as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of clients. This role provides strategic business affairs and financial oversight for productions, including third-party signatory clients, while partnering closely with internal teams to ensure exceptional service delivery. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with strong organizational, communication, and relationship-management skills, a proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and the confidence to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues at all levels.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee assigned teams supporting client accounts in alignment with scopes of work, client expectations, union requirements, and 7Miles Global processes. Review creative and production materials for talent, rights, clearance, legal, union, insurance, and cost considerations. Coordinate with approved legal counsel on advertising law issues, including copyright, trademark, privacy and publicity rights, fair use, comparative advertising, substantiation, sweepstakes and contests, social media, influencer use, and related matters. Secure or coordinate permissions, releases, licensing agreements, and clearances for talent, music, stock materials, locations, props, wardrobe, products, logos, artwork, and other third-party materials. Review production estimates, bids, casting materials, session budgets, talent costs, music and stock fees, insurance needs, and business affairs line items for accuracy. Prepare, review, negotiate, and administer union and non-union talent contracts, celebrity agreements, releases, NDAs, confidentiality agreements, and related production documents. Negotiate session fees, over-scale rates, use terms, talent buyouts, foreign territory rights, extensions, renewals, and renegotiations with agents, vendors, clients, and internal teams. Oversee SAG-AFTRA, AFM, signatory, paymaster, payroll, Taft-Hartley, Station 12, union waiver, and related documentation requirements as applicable. Track use rights, renewal dates, expirations, payment deadlines, client approvals, and required next steps; proactively communicate issues, risks, and recommendations. Attend pre-production meetings as needed, flag business affairs issues, and support production teams with talent, timing, union, rights, and cost questions. Actualize and close jobs in partnership with Finance, resolving billing discrepancies and maintaining organized project files. Help train and coach team members on business affairs workflow, documentation standards, union requirements, client expectations, and best practices. Recommend improvements to templates, procedures, client communications, training materials, and internal workflow. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong working knowledge of SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract requirements; AFM and other talent/production agreement experience preferred. Solid understanding of union and non-union production and talent practices, including use rights, renewals, residuals, payroll, paymaster processes, and production documentation. Senior-level experience with intellectual property clearance and rights acquisition for advertising or content production. Confident negotiator with experience managing talent fees, use terms, extensions, renewals, buyouts, permissions, and related agreements. Strong client service, communication, judgment, organization, and critical thinking skills. Ability to manage multiple fast-moving projects, spot risk early, communicate clearly, and stay calm under pressure.Advanced Microsoft 365 skills and ability to learn client, paymaster, rights management, and proprietary systems. QUALIFICATIONS:4 years of college-level coursework required; BA or BS degree preferred. 7+ years of advertising, production, talent, or business affairs experience. 5+ years of SAG-AFTRA talent experience, including Commercials Contract and related digital or non-broadcast use considerations. Experience with talent payroll, paymaster systems, union and non-union payments, cost actualization, and production documentation required.
