Role: Senior Power BI Developer

Location: YorkType: PermanentWorking Pattern: HybridWe’re working with a well-established organisation in York that is investing heavily in its Data, Analytics and AI capability and is looking to appoint a Senior Power BI Developer.This is a senior hands-on role where you’ll take ownership of complex, business-critical Power BI products from initial requirements and solution design through to build, deployment, support and continuous improvement.You’ll work closely with Data Engineering, Data Product, Data Management and wider analytics teams, helping to set technical standards and improve the quality, performance and usability of reporting across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end delivery of complex Power BI solutionsDesign and optimise scalable semantic and dimensional data modelsDevelop advanced DAX, Power Query transformations and reporting solutionsIdentify and resolve Power BI performance issuesBuild intuitive, user-focused dashboards and reporting experiencesMaintain strong standards across governance, security, documentation and deploymentWork with stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into effective data productsLead technical reviews and support the development of other BI developers and analystsHelp improve existing reporting environments and reduce unnecessary or duplicated reportingSkills & Experience:We’re looking for someone with strong experience across:Power BIAdvanced DAXPower QuerySemantic and dimensional modellingSQLPerformance optimisationRow-level securityPower BI workspaces and deployment pipelinesSource control and release managementEnterprise or business-critical reporting environmentsYou should also be comfortable taking ownership of technical decisions, working with senior stakeholders and mentoring or reviewing the work of other developers.Experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or Google Cloud Platform would be beneficial, alongside exposure to UX/UI, Python, R or AI-assisted analytics.This would suit an experienced Power BI Developer looking for a senior position where they can remain hands-on technically while having genuine influence over BI standards, architecture and delivery.
