Apply & track with Apply EdgeSenior Buyer-Manufacturing - Pittsburgh, PAFull Time / OnsiteMy client, a leading building materials manufacturer, is looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of purchasing, supplier strategy, cost control, and freight coordination across multiple facilities.This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned procurement professional who understands the realities of manufacturing—raw material availability, commodity volatility, production demands, supplier performance, and the constant need to protect margins while keeping operations moving.The ideal candidate is highly analytical, commercially sharp, and comfortable balancing strategic sourcing with hands-on daily purchasing and logistics execution.What You’ll DoManage the full procurement cycle for raw materials and packaging suppliesMonitor inventory levels, issue purchase orders, and align deliveries with production demandOversee inbound and outbound freight coordination across multiple facilitiesManage macro ingredient logistics, vendor communication, data reconciliation, and ERP inventory updatesAnalyze commodity pricing, market trends, supply/demand conditions, and broader economic factorsIdentify and execute continuous cost-saving and leverage-buying opportunitiesDevelop and strengthen key supplier relationshipsPartner with leadership on major contract negotiations, pricing, and payment termsPrepare and present monthly costing reportsEvaluate supplier capacity, market risk, and future cost exposureIdentify and qualify alternate suppliers to reduce supply-chain riskMonitor packaging inventory and spending to prevent shortages and improve cost efficiencyStep in quickly when urgent logistics issues arise to protect operational continuityWhat We’re Looking ForApproximately 10+ years of progressive buyer/procurement experience, ideally within manufacturing or industrial operationsStrong background purchasing raw materials, commodities, packaging, or production-related suppliesProven success negotiating complex supplier contracts, pricing, and termsDemonstrated history of delivering measurable cost savingsStrong understanding of market dynamics, commodity fluctuations, and supply-chain riskExcellent mathematical, analytical, and data-analysis skillsStrong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently while collaborating closely with operations, finance, logistics, and leadershipBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills highly valuedInfor XA ERP experience is a strong plusThis role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, understands how purchasing decisions directly affect production and profitability, and wants the opportunity to make a visible impact across a growing manufacturing organization.If you’re a strategic buyer who still likes to stay close to the details, I’d love to connect today.
