🚨 Hiring: Senior C++ Engineer – Legacy Modernization
Location: RemoteType: ContractWe are looking for a Senior C++ Engineer to support the modernization of a mission-critical retail application that has been in production for 30+ years.This is a hands-on legacy modernization role focused on understanding a large proprietary/file-based database environment, reverse engineering existing systems, and helping transform the platform toward a modern relational architecture.🔹 Required Skills10+ years of hands-on C++ developmentStrong experience with large legacy C++ applicationsExperience with reverse engineering undocumented code and business logicExperience modernizing or migrating legacy database platformsStrong understanding of data structures, file formats, indexing, and storageExperience analyzing and converting legacy data modelsAbility to work with highly customized, mature systems🔹 Legacy Database ExperienceExperience with any of the following is highly valuable:VSAM, ISAM/C-ISAM, Btrieve, Pervasive SQL, FairCom/c-tree, RMS, IMS, Adabas, IDMS, or other proprietary/file-based/hierarchical databases.🔹 PreferredExperience migrating file-based databases to relational databasesPostgreSQL experienceRetail, POS, inventory, or transaction-intensive application experienceEnterprise legacy modernization experience⚠️ Important: This is primarily a legacy C++ and database modernization position.
Candidates with only modern web development/C++ application experience and no legacy database exposure may not be a fit.
