The post holder will contribute to the delivery, development, and oversight of high-quality, evidence-based psychological services across Nua Healthcare Services, supporting children and adults with a range of complex intellectual disabilities, mental health difficulties, and associated support needs.As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will join a dynamic and expanding Psychology Department within a clinically rich environment. You will work as a senior member of a highly motivated multidisciplinary team, providing specialist psychological services to children and adults with complex needs, with or without intellectual disabilities, and a range of mental health presentations.The post holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist psychological services across Nua Healthcare Services, including psychological assessment, formulation, diagnosis, intervention, treatment planning, programme development, implementation, monitoring, and review. The role will involve working collaboratively with service users, families, staff teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver high-quality, outcome-focused, and recovery-oriented services.ResponsibilitiesThe role will involve:Providing a range of specialist psychological assessments and evidence-based interventions as required.Facilitating individual and group therapeutic interventions, including therapy and counselling supports.Providing psychological consultation, advice, and support to service users, families, and staff teams.Working as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, person-centred care and contribute to the development and review of individual support and treatment plans.Providing clinical supervision and support to Basic Grade Clinical Psychologists, Assistant Psychologists, and other relevant staff as required.Supporting the development and delivery of psychologically informed programmes, including behaviour support approaches, risk management, crisis support, and specialist assessments where required.Providing training, guidance, and consultation to staff, parents, and families to enhance understanding of psychological needs and promote best practice.Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, service development, and the ongoing enhancement of psychological services.Maintaining accurate clinical records, statistical information, and contributing to relevant service reports.Ensuring professional standards, ethical practice, and quality standards are maintained in line with relevant professional guidelines and company policies.Keeping up to date with developments in Clinical Psychology, evidence-based practice, research, and relevant areas of specialist practice through continuing professional development.Participating in training, research, service evaluation, and development activities as required.Promoting and delivering services in accordance with the ethos, values, and philosophy of Nua Healthcare Services.Undertaking any other duties appropriate to the role, including supporting service initiatives and specialist clinical requirements as they arise.*The list of key duties is not exhaustive*QualificationsPossess a recognised professional postgraduate qualification in Clinical Psychology.If qualified outside the Republic of Ireland, the qualification must be validated by the relevant authority.All candidates must meet the registration requirements of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).Minimum of three years post-qualification experience.Essential CriteriaExperience working with individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Health difficulties, and/or other complex needs.Experience providing psychological assessment, formulation, intervention, and evidence-based psychological supports.Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team within a health, social care, or related setting.Ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional psychological reports and documentation.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex psychological information effectively.Demonstrated ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and decision-making skills.Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Full clean driver’s licence.Preferred SkillsAbility to build and maintain positive therapeutic and professional relationships with service users, families, colleagues, and external stakeholders.Strong listening skills combined with patience, professionalism, and empathy.Commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused, and psychologically informed practice.Practical, creative, and solution-focused approach to problem-solving.Ability to understand the complex factors influencing an individual’s presentation, behaviour, and wellbeing.Excellent leadership, consultation, and negotiation skills.Ability to manage competing priorities and work across a range of clinical activities.Ability to work collaboratively while also demonstrating initiative and autonomy.Responsible and professional approach, with respect for confidentiality and ethical practice.Key CompetenciesExcellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy, respect, and understanding of individual needs and diversity.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage a varied clinical workload.Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.Excellent verbal, written communication, and IT skills.Ability to provide consultation, guidance, supervision, and support to colleagues.Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute positively to multidisciplinary team working.Commitment to continuous professional development, reflective practice, and maintaining professional standards.
