Working across AWS and Azure, you will develop automated, secure and highly resilient infrastructure while helping establish the engineering standards used across the organisation.This is not a narrowly defined cloud administration position. You will work across architecture, automation, networking, security, observability and reliability, with the opportunity to influence important technical decisions and see your work adopted throughout OwnDesign, deploy and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure.Help shape the cloud architecture and engineering standards supporting a global investment business.Build cloud-native platforms using containers, microservices, serverless technologies and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible and other automation technologies.Build and improve automated deployment pipelines that make infrastructure changes faster, safer and more repeatable.Monitor, optimise and troubleshoot infrastructure performance, availability, security and cost.Implement effective observability using technologies such as CloudWatch, Grafana and Datadog.Strengthen identity and access management, encryption, network security and wider cloud controls.Design disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, including backup, failover and multi-region architecture.Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and determine where they can provide meaningful technical or commercial value.Work closely with infrastructure and engineering colleagues across the US, Europe and APAC, as well as the firm’s managed service providers.Document technical architectures, engineering standards and cloud best practices as the environment continues to develop.The EnvironmentYou will work across a broad and business continuityYou could be designing a new cloud architecture one day, troubleshooting a production issue the next and then working with global colleagues to automate or secure the underlying environment.You will need to understand the individual technologies, but also how they come together to support a highly demanding and business-critical investment platform.What We’re Looking ForYou will bring approximately 5 to 10 years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, solutions architecture or a similarly hands-on technical position.You Are Likely To HaveStrong practical experience designing, deploying and managing infrastructure across AWS and Azure.A thorough understanding of cloud architecture and the appropriate use of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services.Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform and Ansible.Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, PowerShell or Bash.Experience building and operating containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes.Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines and automated infrastructure delivery.A strong understanding of cloud networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing and connectivity.Practical knowledge of IAM, encryption, network security and cloud security best practices.Experience designing resilient infrastructure, backup strategies, failover mechanisms and multi-region deployments.The ability to diagnose complex infrastructure problems calmly and methodically.Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple regions.A proactive, adaptable mindset and the willingness to take ownership outside a narrowly defined remit.Experience within a hedge fund, investment firm, financial institution or another highly regulated and performance-sensitive environment would be advantageous, particularly where you have worked with SEC, GDPR or comparable
