Position Overview:Tree Top Staffing is partnering with an established precision manufacturer in DeLand, Florida, to hire a Senior CNC Machinist who can add immediate technical depth, sound judgment, and ownership to a close-knit operation. The company produces complex components primarily for defense programs, along with commercial and other regulated applications.This is a hands-on role for a machinist who can independently take complex parts from drawing or model through setup, prove-out, machining, inspection, and repeatable production. The selected candidate will report directly to the company President and will be trusted to solve problems near their source, improve processes, and help strengthen the people around them.Why Consider This Opportunity:Four 10-hour first shifts each week, with weekends off and typical hours of approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.Meaningful precision-manufacturing work supporting defense, aerospace, and other demanding applications.A varied equipment environment that includes 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills; standard and live-tool lathes; and larger-capacity turning equipment.A small-team setting where senior expertise is visible and experienced employees have direct access to leadership.Real autonomy to improve setups, machining processes, documentation, quality, and production performance.An opportunity to help strengthen operating discipline as the company expands its use of ProShop ERP.What the Company Values:Ownership: You care about the outcome, follow through, and do not wait to be told about every next step.Judgment: You make thoughtful decisions, raise concerns early, and know when to involve others.Craftsmanship: You take pride in producing accurate parts and protecting the customer, the team, and the process.Collaboration: You communicate clearly, share knowledge, and help strengthen less-experienced team members.Continuous improvement: You respect proven methods while remaining willing to challenge inefficient practices.Key Responsibilities:Independently set up, prove out, and operate CNC mills and/or lathes.Program or edit CNC programs at the machine or through CAM software, based on experience.Develop reliable machining processes from drawings, models, specifications, and work instructions.Select tooling, workholding, offsets, cutting parameters, feeds, and speeds.Troubleshoot programming, tooling, dimensional, machine, and process-related problems.Produce conforming first-piece and production parts and complete in-process inspection.Maintain the documentation, traceability, and process controls expected in an AS9100 environment.Partner with programmers and quality personnel to resolve nonconformances and prevent recurring issues.Improve setup methods, cycle times, repeatability, documentation, and process reliability.Share knowledge and help develop less-experienced machinists.Required Qualifications:Senior-level CNC machining capability, typically developed through seven or more years of progressively responsible experience or an equivalent level of demonstrated expertise.Demonstrated ability to independently set up and prove out CNC equipment.Advanced CNC milling, CNC turning, or combined mill/turn expertise.Advanced blueprint-reading and GD&T interpretation skills.Experience producing precision components within an AS9100-controlled manufacturing environment.Experience selecting tooling, developing workholding, and troubleshooting machining processes.Proficiency with standard machine-shop inspection and metrology equipment.Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and take ownership of technical outcomes.Commitment to safety, documentation, traceability, and continuous improvement.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Hurco controls.Experience with multi-axis machining, live-tool turning, or larger-capacity turning equipment.CAM programming experience.Experience with ProShop ERP or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.Experience mentoring machinists or leading process-improvement efforts in aerospace or defense manufacturing.What Success Looks Like:Complex setups and prove-outs are completed independently and safely.First articles and production parts consistently meet drawing, GD&T, and customer requirements.Problems are identified early, solved at the machine, and prevented from recurring.Setups, programs, documentation, and machining processes become more reliable and efficient.The broader team benefits from stronger technical judgment, communication, and knowledge sharing.Schedule and Compensation:This is a full-time, onsite position in DeLand, Florida. The position will generally work four 10-hour first shifts from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The schedule may run Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, with the specific weekday assignment confirmed during the interview process. Weekends are off.Target base compensation is approximately $41 to $50 per hour when structured hourly, or $85,000 to $105,000 annually when structured as a salary. Final compensation and pay structure will depend on the selected candidate's experience, capabilities, and responsibilities.
