This role sits within the Operations team and works closely with traders, finance, and counterparties to ensure seamless execution of trades from contract to settlement. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing trade operations, logistics coordination, and Letter of Credit (LC) processes, supporting commodities including dry bulk (coal, iron ore, bauxite), agriculture, oil & gas, and renewables.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Trade OperationsExecute and monitor physical commodity trades from contract execution through to final settlementReview and operationalize contracts (SPAs, CPs) including key terms such as laycan, delivery basis (FOB/CFR/CIF), and payment terms Coordinate with traders, suppliers, buyers, shipping agents, and surveyors to ensure smooth cargo execution Track vessel nominations, loading/discharge schedules, laytime, and demurrage/despatch exposure Manage operational risks, flag potential issues proactively, and support resolution Logistics & DocumentationCoordinate shipment logistics including vessel scheduling, port operations, and cargo movements Ensure timely preparation, review, and submission of trade documents (e.g. Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, inspection certificates, invoices) Liaise with inspection companies, terminals, and agents to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate and timely trade records in internal systems Letter of Credit (LC) Operations Draft, review, and negotiate LC terms in line with contractual obligations Work closely with banks, traders, and counterparties on LC issuance, amendments, and document presentation Ensure strict compliance with LC requirements to minimize discrepancies and payment delays Monitor payment timelines and follow up on outstanding receivables Stakeholder Coordination Act as a key interface between Trading, Finance, Risk, and external counterparties Support reconciliation of trade P&L, costs, and operational exposures Assist in audits, compliance checks, and internal reporting REQUIREMENTS 8–12 years of experience in trade operations or trade finance within a commodities trading firm Strong working knowledge of LCs (UCP600), trade documentation, and physical trade flows Experience in dry bulk commodities (coal, iron ore) is preferred; exposure to agriculture, oil & gas, or renewables is a plus Familiarity with shipping terms (Incoterms), laytime calculations, and demurrage concepts High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment and manage multiple transactions simultaneously Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate across internal and external stakeholders WHAT WE OFFER Exposure to a diversified commodities portfolio across global markets A dynamic, fast-paced trading environment with direct interaction with commercial teams Opportunities to develop expertise in physical trading operations and trade finance Competitive compensation and career progression within a growing trading company
