This role sits within Ant International’s International Compliance team, supporting the group’s business expansion in Japan - particularly the provision of payments and financial services to Japanese customers.We’re looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented compliance professional who can work closely with internal business, operations and functional stakeholders, as well as external regulators, partners and associates, to help the business meet its objectives while fulfilling its regulatory obligations.The ideal candidate is confident, well organized, and comfortable exercising independent judgment and partnering with the business in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.ResponsibilitiesEstablish and maintain an effective compliance program and control framework aligned with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.Partner with internal functions and teams across locations to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and licensing requirements.Develop prudential compliance policies and procedures, maintain the obligations register, manage regulator engagements, and provide regular compliance updates to senior management.Handle regulatory submissions and enquiries, support audits, and maintain strong working relationships with regulators — including coordinating on-site inspections where required.Lead and support license applications and ongoing maintenance for payment institutions, payment systems, e-money and related Fintech licenses/permits.Deliver periodic internal compliance reviews, training and education programs.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent work/legal experience.10-15 years of compliance or regulatory experience, with meaningful exposure to Japan’s payments/financial services regulatory environment (e.g., direct engagement with the JFSA, PSA or Banking Act licensing).Strong knowledge of fintech, payment systems, money transmitter and stored value licensing, and related legal/regulatory requirements.Established relationships with, and hands-on experience liaising directly with, Japanese regulators.Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment, under pressure and against deadlines.Business-level English and Japanese required; Mandarin Chinese is a plus but not essential.Experience with e-commerce, payments or financial services preferred.
