Senior Compliance Manager

Location: Bethesda, MDGreen Key Resources is working with a leading organization to identify a Senior Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen its compliance function.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can interpret employment regulations, proactively identify compliance risks, develop practical solutions, and partner with Legal, People, and business leaders.The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in compliance and/or employment law, with significant experience navigating multi-state and multi-jurisdictional employment requirements. A legal background, including attorney or paralegal experience, may also be highly transferable.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and oversee compliance programs, policies, and procedures.Monitor federal, state, and local employment laws and translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance for internal stakeholders.Provide guidance on employment law, wage and hour requirements, employment classifications, EEO, pay transparency, and related compliance matters.Proactively identify compliance risks and develop action plans to address potential issues.Lead compliance audits, assessments, reporting, and ongoing risk-monitoring activities.Develop and maintain policies and compliance-related documentation.Support federal and state reporting requirements, including EEO and pay transparency reporting.Partner closely with Legal and other cross-functional stakeholders on complex or escalated compliance matters.Review and interpret legal and regulatory language and communicate requirements clearly to internal stakeholders.Develop and maintain compliance governance processes and frameworks.Stay current on changes to employment regulations and ensure policies and programs are updated accordingly.Balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution of complex compliance projects and initiatives.Lead and develop a growing compliance team.What We're Looking For7+ years of relevant experience in compliance, employment law, HR compliance, legal compliance, or a closely related area.Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance, particularly wage and hour requirements.Significant multi-state and multi-jurisdictional compliance experience.Experience proactively identifying compliance risks and developing action plans.Ability to interpret legal and regulatory language and provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders.Experience with compliance audits, policy development, risk monitoring, and regulatory reporting.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities and critical deadlines.High level of discretion when handling confidential information.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Law, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.Prior people-management experience is required.Ideal BackgroundCandidates with direct employment compliance experience are highly encouraged to apply. A legal background, including employment law, attorney, or paralegal experience, may also translate well to the role when paired with relevant employment compliance knowledge.Experience supporting compliance across multiple states is particularly important.
