Senior Composite Structural Engineer /Aerospace

Role Description We are seeking a Senior Composite Structural Design Engineer to lead the design, analysis, optimization, and development of advanced composite structures for aerospace and UAV applications. The role requires strong expertise in composite structural design, FEA, laminate engineering, lightweight structures, and composite manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign primary and secondary composite aerospace structures, including wings, fuselage sections, spars, ribs, frames, control surfaces, structural panels, and UAV airframes.Develop lightweight structural concepts considering strength, stiffness, buckling, fatigue, damage tolerance, and load paths.Define composite laminates, ply orientations, stacking sequences, ply drops, sandwich structures, and local reinforcements.Design bonded, bolted, co-cured, and composite-to-metal structural joints.Perform and review structural calculations and FEA, including static, buckling, modal, vibration, fatigue, and composite failure analysis.Apply appropriate composite failure criteria and Maximum Stress/Strain.Calculate structural margins of safety and support structural substantiation.Develop detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, ply definitions, assemblies, and GD&T.Optimize structures for weight, performance, manufacturability, and assembly.Ensure designs are suitable for composite manufacturing processes, particularly wel lamination, infusion, prepreg, autoclave, vacuum bagging, bonding, and sandwich construction.Support structural testing, FEA-to-test correlation, qualification, and design validation.Investigate structural failures, composite defects, NCRs, and manufacturing issues and develop appropriate engineering solutions.Provide technical leadership and mentor structural/design engineers.
