Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe’re looking for a remote Senior Conference Manager in the conference and event management industry.Our client is a well-established Canadian conference, event, and marketing management organization with decades of experience delivering national and international conferences, congresses, and large-scale events. Operating within a fully remote environment, the organization is experiencing significant growth and is expanding its capacity to support increasingly complex programs across Canada and internationally.This is a high-impact role for an experienced conference professional who can independently lead the planning and execution of major conferences from conception through post-event evaluation. The successful candidate will bring strong operational leadership, financial acumen, stakeholder management expertise, and the ability to mentor junior team members while managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.Senior Conference Manager Responsibilities:Lead the planning and execution of national and international conferences and congresses ranging from 1,500 to 10,000+ delegatesServe as the primary client contact and senior operational lead for assigned conferencesDevelop and manage conference budgets, financial forecasting, reconciliations, and project profitabilityLead conference organizing committees, scientific/program committees, and stakeholder groupsManage abstract submission processes, speaker management, scientific programs, and presentation workflowsOversee venue sourcing, hotel negotiations, room block management, supplier contracting, and citywide logisticsDirect integrated project teams across registration, housing, sponsorship, exhibits, marketing, communications, and onsite operationsDevelop project plans, production schedules, risk management strategies, and operational timelinesLead onsite conference delivery, including team leadership, supplier coordination, venue management, and issue resolutionPrepare executive-level reports, KPI summaries, project updates, and post-event evaluationsMentor and support junior conference management professionalsContribute to business growth initiatives and support business development opportunitiesThe Successful Candidate Has:5+ years of progressive conference management experience within a Professional Congress Organizer (PCO), conference management, or similar environmentProven experience managing the full lifecycle of large-scale conferences with attendance of 2,000+ delegates; experience with events exceeding 3,000 attendees is strongly preferredStrong understanding of conference operations including abstracts, scientific programs, speaker management, registration, housing, sponsorships, exhibits, and logisticsDemonstrated experience managing conference budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and profitabilityStrong understanding of marketing, promotion, and sponsorshipsExperience leading committees, stakeholders, clients, vendors, and cross-functional project teamsStrong venue sourcing, hotel negotiation, and citywide conference management experienceExceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlinesProven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accountability and attention to detailStrong leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skillsExperience with conference and project management platforms such as EventsAir, Wrike, or similar systemsAbility and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% to 40% of the yearExcellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishBilingualism in English and French is considered a strong assetValid passport and ability to travel internationally without restrictionsCompensation and Benefits:The discussed salary range is $75,000 - $80,000, depending on experienceCandidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be consideredComprehensive health and wellness benefits packageFully remote work environmentInternet allowance and home office supportFlexible work arrangementsPaid vacation starting at two weeks, with flexibility for senior candidatesNine paid statutory holidays plus office closure between Christmas Eve and New Year's DayPaid time in lieu, where applicableProfessional development opportunitiesCompany-provided IT equipmentOpportunity to lead high-profile national and international conferencesCollaborative and supportive team environment with significant autonomy and ownershipLong-term career growth opportunities within a growing organizationAdditionally, candidates must possess a valid passport and be eligible to travel internationally.Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
