Apply & track with Apply EdgeSenior Control Risk Analyst - Structural Balance Sheet Risk (second line of defense) About This OpportunityJoin Aresbank’s Risk Control team as a Liquidity Risk and Structural Balance Sheet Risk Specialist and play a key role in strengthening the bank’s risk management framework. In this position, you will be responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling liquidity risk and structural balance sheet risks, ensuring effective independent oversight in line with the bank’s risk management policies and regulatory requirements. As part of the Second Line of Defense, you will contribute to maintaining the bank’s financial stability, supporting sound risk governance, and promoting a robust and proactive approach to risk management.Key Responsibilities1. Oversight and Control of Liquidity Risk and Structural Balance Sheet RisksIndependently monitor the Bank’s liquidity position under both normal and stressed conditions.Assess the reliability of processes used to calculate regulatory and management metrics, including, but not limited to, the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), Economic Value of Equity (EVE), and Net Interest Income (NII).Analyze funding source concentration and liquidity gaps across different time horizons.Verify compliance with internal limits approved under the Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) and analyze trends in early warning indicators associated with liquidity risk.Assess the adequacy of monitoring and escalation mechanisms in the event of limit breaches or early warning indicator triggers.2. Liquidity Risk and Structural Balance Sheet Risk Management FrameworkContribute to the development and periodic review of liquidity risk management policies, procedures, and controls.Assess the adequacy of the liquidity risk framework against regulatory requirements and supervisory best practices.Evaluate the effectiveness of the Contingency Funding Plan and monitor the mechanisms governing its activation.3. ICAAP/ILAAP and Regulatory RelationsContribute to the preparation of the Internal Capital and Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP/ILAAP).Respond to requests from the Bank of Spain and internal or external auditors regarding liquidity risk management matters.4. Reporting and Internal GovernancePrepare periodic reports for the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO), the Board of Directors, and its delegated committees.Clearly communicate identified risks and coordinate mitigating actions, where appropriate.Monitor action plans arising from findings or observations raised by supervisors or auditors.Required Technical KnowledgeAdvanced knowledge of the following areas:Short- and long-term liquidity risk, funding risk, intraday liquidity, liquidity buffers, and High-Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA).Experience using MIRAI, the regulatory and risk management tool.Contingency Funding Plans, liquidity stress testing, early warning indicators, and the applicable banking regulations governing these areas.Prudential reporting requirements relating to liquidity and funding.Data analysis and analytical tools, with advanced Excel skills and knowledge of SQL for data extraction and analysis.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration and Management, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.Previous experience in financial risk management or risk control, preferably in liquidity risk, Asset and Liability Management (ALM), or structural balance sheet risk.Professional certifications such as the following will be considered an advantage:FRM (Financial Risk Manager).CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).Professional CompetenciesAnalytical SkillsAbility to interpret large volumes of financial information, identify emerging risks, and assess the impact of different economic scenarios on the Bank’s liquidity position.Critical Thinking and IndependenceAbility to challenge assumptions, validate methodologies, and provide independent assessments, in line with the responsibilities of a Second Line of Defense function.Communication and Influencing SkillsAbility to communicate complex technical issues clearly, accurately, and in a decision-oriented manner to Senior Management and governing bodies.Accuracy and Attention to DetailHigh standards in reviewing data, models, and regulatory metrics, ensuring the quality and reliability of the information used.Collaboration and TeamworkAbility to work effectively with Treasury, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, and supervisory authorities, while consistently maintaining the independence required of a control function.
