Job PositionSenior Cost EstimatorPurpose of the Job: The Senior Cost Estimator is responsible for developing project pricing based on BOQ data, scope documents, and unit rates. This role ensures accurate preparation of cost proposals, pricing summaries, variation orders, and progress billing. The Senior Cost Estimator works closely with the Quantity Surveyor and Junior Cost Estimator to validate quantities, apply rates, and compile financial submissions that align with project requirements and contractual conditions.ResponsibilitiesAdministrative and Supervisory Tasks:- Contribute to the execution of departmental goals and operational plans in alignment with strategic objectives.- Coordinate and monitor assigned tasks, ensuring timely delivery and quality of outputs.- Review work outputs, identify workflow obstacles, and escalate issues requiring managerial intervention.- Provide technical support and training to junior team members, fostering collaboration and skill development.`- Participate in proposing improvements to work procedures and performance to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.- Develop action plans for assigned project components and maintain accurate progress documentation.- Review performance data and provide analysis and insights to support managerial decision-making.- Monitor task progress, ensure adherence to timelines, and recommend process optimizations.- Prepare and submit reports on work progress, challenges, or achievements to the department manager.- Support in identifying departmental resource needs and provide input into planning and budgeting processes.- Perform any other related tasks as required by work needs and assigned by the direct manager/supervisor.Technical Tasks:- Analyze RFPs and scope documents to understand client requirements and pricing constraints.- Coordinate with the Quantity Surveyor to prepare complete and accurate BOQ documents.- Apply approved unit rates to BOQ items using the cost database and historical benchmarks.- Develop pricing summaries and payment schedules for tender and contract submissions.- Prepare draft variation orders in response to change requests, coordinating with QS for quantity validation.- Complete and submit progress billing forms based on verified on-site quantities.- Support the development and update of cost rate sheets through market research and data collection.- Review draft work from the Junior Cost Estimator and ensure consistency with FBS pricing standards.- Archive pricing packages and cost data securely and in compliance with internal documentation protocols.Job QualificationsEducational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Civil Engineering, or any related field.Practical Qualifications: A practical experience of no less than 6 years in construction and fit-out cost estimation.Certification/Courses Qualifications BOQ Preparation and Costing, Estimating Software Tools Course.Languages Required Excellent level in Arabic and English language writing, reading, and speaking.Required Skills: - Quantity Take-off and Cost Estimation.- Budgeting and BOQ Preparation.- Execution of Assigned Tasks.- Technical Knowledge.- Time Management and discipline.- Learning Ability.- Collaboration and Team Support.- Attention to Details.- Following Processes and Procedures.- Communication Skills.- Digital Tool Familiarity- Proactive Attitude.- Adaptability.- Proficient in Using MS Office Programs for Documentation and Reporting.
