As part of its continued investment in data and technology, the company is expanding its team responsible for developing and enhancing a sophisticated pricing platform and pricing engine.This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, technically focused environment where you'll work alongside Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Engineers, contributing directly to production solutions while gaining exposure to advanced data science and optimisation techniques.Role OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Data Analyst / Python Developer to join a team responsible for developing and maintaining a sophisticated Pricing Engine.The Pricing Engine uses data, algorithms and business rules to determine the optimal combination of prices while balancing multiple business objectives, constraints and uncertain future outcomes.In this role, you will sit at the intersection of data analysis, Python development and production technology. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into robust Python and SQL logic, developing and testing new business rules within the Pricing Engine, and supporting the controlled delivery of code through development and lower environments.You'll work closely with Data Scientists, Data Analysts and wider business/technology stakeholders, giving you the opportunity to contribute to production systems while developing your understanding of more advanced data science and optimisation methodologies.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain Python and SQL logic within the Pricing Engine.Translate business requirements into robust, maintainable and well-tested code.Develop and implement business rules within the pricing platform.Build and expand automated testing frameworks and test cases to ensure the quality and reliability of the Pricing Engine.Analyse large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, anomalies and opportunities.Work collaboratively with Data Scientists, Data Analysts and other stakeholders to investigate and solve complex problems.Manage code through lower environments, including branch management, merging and release activities.Follow established software development, deployment and change-management practices.Contribute to Agile delivery processes, ensuring work is delivered to agreed standards and timelines.Document business logic, technical solutions and changes within the Pricing Engine.Ensure high standards of code quality, testing, documentation and technical design.Work independently when required while maintaining strong collaboration with the wider team.Contribute to continuous improvement of development, testing and deployment processes.Key RequirementsPython & SQLStrong professional experience developing solutions using Python.Strong SQL skills, with experience querying and analysing large datasets.Ability to write clean, maintainable and production-quality Python code.Experience translating business requirements into technical logic and rules.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Data AnalysisProven experience working with large and complex datasets.Ability to explore, analyse and interpret data to identify patterns, trends and anomalies.Strong understanding of data analysis methodologies and approaches.Ability to use data to investigate problems and support business decisions.Production Software DevelopmentExperience working with production systems and controlled software change processes.Practical experience with Git/GitHub, including branching, merging and code management.Experience with software testing and automated testing practices.Understanding of deployment and release processes across development/lower environments.Experience working within an Agile delivery environment.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices.Ability to work within established engineering, coding and delivery standards.EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
