Senior Data Engineer – SQL Server | Data Warehouse | Power BISalary Package: $185,000 - $195,000MelbourneOffice in Kew, with 2 days working from homeWe are partnering with an established healthcare provider to recruit an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their Melbourne-based technology team.This is a hands-on senior role for someone who is genuinely strong across Microsoft SQL Server, database administration and development, enterprise data warehousing, ETL/SSIS and Power BI.You'll take ownership across the existing data environment while also playing an important role in its future modernisation, including a planned SQL Server 2019 to SQL Server 2025 upgrade and the evaluation and phased adoption of Microsoft Fabric.What you'll be doingAdminister, maintain, secure and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environmentsDevelop and optimise complex SQL, stored procedures, functions, views and database objectsDesign and maintain enterprise data warehouse solutions and dimensional data modelsBuild and support ETL/ELT pipelines, including advanced SSIS developmentDevelop and optimise Power BI semantic models, datasets, reports and dashboardsSupport integrations across APIs, XML/JSON and business systemsTroubleshoot complex database, data warehouse and reporting issuesSupport SQL Server upgrades, migrations and broader data-platform modernisationApply strong data security, privacy, governance and quality practicesThe role covers the full data lifecycle rather than being purely a reporting or BI position.What we're looking forYou will ideally have 5+ years' experience as a Senior Data Engineer, Database Administrator, Data Warehouse Developer or in a similar hands-on role, with:Expert Microsoft SQL Server administrationAdvanced SQL development, query tuning, indexing and performance optimisationStrong enterprise Data Warehouse experienceAdvanced SSIS / ETL / ELT experienceStrong Power BI development skillsExperience supporting business-critical production environmentsExperience with major SQL Server upgrades or migrationsPractical experience with PowerShell and XML/API-based integrationsStrong troubleshooting, documentation and stakeholder communication skillsExposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure data technologies or broader Microsoft data-platform modernisation will be highly regarded.Experience within healthcare, private health insurance, hospitals or health data would be a strong advantage, but is not essential.
