Senior Data Engineer

We are looking to hire a Senior Data Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable enterprise data platforms, modern data warehousing solutions, and analytics capabilities using Microsoft Fabric and Azure technologies for our client based in Dubai – one of the largest companies in the region.This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 12 months and is renewable.We are looking for a passionate Senior Data Engineer who is enthusiastic about building modern, scalable, and governed enterprise data platforms that enable business intelligence, advanced analytics, and AI-driven initiatives. You should also have strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, Power BI, Apache Spark, PySpark, SQL, dimensional modelling, ETL/ELT development, and cloud-based data platform architecture.Key responsibilities:Design, develop, and implement enterprise data platforms using Microsoft Fabric.Build and manage Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) solutions to support enterprise analytics.Develop and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, data integration processes, notebooks, and orchestration workflows.Design and maintain dimensional data models, including fact tables, dimension tables, and star schemas, for reporting and analytical workloads.Develop data transformation solutions using PySpark, Spark SQL, and notebook-based development within Microsoft Fabric.Integrate data from multiple enterprise applications and source systems while ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.Partner with Business Intelligence teams to deliver curated datasets, semantic models, and optimized data solutions for Power BI reporting.Implement and maintain data quality, governance, security, monitoring, and performance optimization best practices.Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production data pipelines, ensuring platform stability and continuous improvement.Build trusted, governed, and AI-ready data platforms that enable AI, Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, and Agentic AI initiatives.Prepare and manage structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets, metadata, and knowledge repositories to support AI Engineers, Data Scientists, and advanced analytics use cases.Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, data architecture standards, and implementation best practices.Knowledge, skills & experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, enterprise data warehousing, or business intelligence.Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms.Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and Dataflows Gen2.Advanced knowledge of SQL and T-SQL, including query optimization and performance tuning.Strong experience with Apache Spark, PySpark, and Spark SQL.Solid expertise in data warehousing, dimensional modelling, star schema design, and ETL/ELT development.Experience building and supporting enterprise data pipelines and workflow orchestration solutions.Mandatory experience with Power BI, including semantic models, reporting datasets, and Microsoft Fabric integration.Good working knowledge of Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data Factory.Strong solution design, analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.Experience designing enterprise data platforms that support AI, Generative AI, Copilot, and Agentic AI initiatives.Exposure to preparing structured and unstructured datasets, metadata, knowledge repositories, and vector-search-ready data for AI solutions is desirable.Availability:Preference will be given to candidates available immediately.We are looking for a candidate who will be able to work in the United Arab Emirates.
