Senior Data Engineer – TalendJob SummaryWe are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Talend to design, develop, optimize, and support enterprise-grade data integration and data engineering solutions.The role will be responsible for building robust ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating data from multiple source systems, ensuring data quality and reliability, and supporting end-to-end data platform operations across development, testing, and production environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Talend.Build and manage integrations across databases, APIs, files, applications, and enterprise systems.Develop reusable Talend jobs, components, frameworks, and standardized integration patterns.Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, cleansing, and loading across multiple platforms.Design and implement batch and near real-time data integration workflows.Work with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and similar platforms.Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and data reconciliation logic.Optimize Talend jobs for performance, scalability, and reliability.Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and production issues.Implement error handling, logging, monitoring, restartability, and operational controls.Support deployment and migration of Talend jobs across DEV, TEST/UAT, and PROD environments.Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and quality throughout the integration lifecycle.Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, application teams, database teams, and business stakeholders.Translate business and technical requirements into detailed data integration solutions.Participate in source-to-target mapping, data profiling, data modeling, and technical design activities.Maintain technical documentation, data mappings, interface specifications, and operational runbooks.Support production operations, incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to data engineering and Talend development best practices.Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical guidance to the wider delivery team.Ensure solutions comply with organizational security, data governance, and data management standards.Required Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL, or Data Integration.Strong hands-on experience with Talend Data Integration / Talend Data Management Platform.Strong knowledge of Talend components, contexts, metadata, joblets, routines, scheduling, and deployment.Advanced SQL and strong understanding of relational databases.Strong understanding of ETL/ELT architecture, data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and data integration patterns.Experience handling large datasets and complex enterprise data environments.Experience with APIs, REST/SOAP services, JSON, XML, CSV, and flat-file integrations.Strong understanding of data quality, validation, reconciliation, and error-handling techniques.Experience with Git or other source-control and CI/CD tools.Good understanding of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical tasks in parallel.Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with technical and business stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Talend Administration Center (TAC) and Talend Runtime.Experience with Talend Data Quality.Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or modern cloud data warehouses/lakehouses.Familiarity with Kafka or other streaming technologies.Experience in enterprise data governance and metadata-management environments.Talend or relevant data engineering certifications are an advantage.Key CompetenciesStrong technical ownershipProblem-solving and troubleshootingData quality mindsetPerformance optimizationStakeholder communicationDocumentation and knowledge transferTeam collaboration and mentoring
