This role provides technical leadership and mentorship to engineers while supporting complex projects from concept through manufacturing, testing, and project completion.The ideal candidate will have advanced expertise in switchgear and power distribution equipment, strong electrical protection and control systems knowledge, and the ability to independently manage complex engineering projects.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTechnical Leadership
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for Design Engineers and Engineering Interns.
- Provide guidance on complex design challenges, protection schemes, control circuits, and customer requirements.
- Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Conduct peer reviews of engineering work produced by less experienced engineers.
- Support engineering training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing and maintaining engineering standards, templates, and best practices.Advanced Design Engineering
- Lead the design and development of complex electrical switchgear systems.
- Develop general arrangements, elevation and plan views, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control circuits.
- Select and specify electrical components while ensuring proper application, coordination, and compliance with project requirements.
- Create and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, including IEC, ANSI, UL, IEEE, and NEMA.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers, project managers, manufacturing teams, and other stakeholders.
- Review and interpret customer specifications and provide technical input throughout project execution.
- Participate in customer technical review meetings and provide engineering expertise.
- Support the resolution of technical issues during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and post-shipment activities.QUALITY & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management requirements.
- Help ensure engineering processes achieve their intended outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization.
- Support customer-focused engineering practices.
- Maintain the integrity and effectiveness of engineering processes and documentation.QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience designing switchgear or power distribution equipment.
- Advanced understanding of low- and medium-voltage systems up to 38kV.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical protection and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects from concept through manufacturing and testing.
- Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables.
- Experience mentoring or training engineers.
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and related engineering software.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical standards, including IEC, IEEE, UL, NEMA, ANSI, or similar standards.
- Strong engineering judgment, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience in switchgear manufacturing, testing, commissioning, or field service.
- Experience with complex power distribution systems and electrical protection schemes.
- Experience working in a cross-functional engineering and manufacturing environment.WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On-site position in Enoch, Utah.
- Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM MST.
- Approximately 10% overtime may be required based on business needs.
- High degree of autonomy and technical authority.
