Employment Type: Full-Time / FTEExperience: 15–20 yearsDomain: Automotive — Bumper Design & DevelopmentJob DescriptionDevelop automotive bumper design concepts based on OEM project direction and requirements.Perform detailed CAD design activities using CATIA V5 and CATIA V6.Use CATIA V5 as the primary CAD platform through the die-go development stage.Create 3D models, component layouts and engineering drawings.Develop drawings according to OEM engineering standards and requirements.Evaluate designs and drive closure of open technical items.Support styling feasibility activities in coordination with the styling/LA Studio team.Participate in vehicle and component evaluation activities.Develop and respond to countermeasures for issues involving:Gap and flushnessIQSWiringPipingOther vehicle/component evaluation itemsCreate supporting engineering documentation.Analyze supplier quotations and support cost estimation.Understand automotive component and assembly cost drivers.Work with styling, suppliers and manufacturing teams to support OEM design requirements.Understand the complete OEM development flow, including:Overall project scheduleDevelopment milestonesExpected deliverables at each milestoneOEM development systemsCoordinate and manage offshore PSC workload and responsibilities from the onsite location.Support project execution while maintaining design, cost, quality and timing requirements.Key Requirements15–20 years of automotive engineering/design experience.Strong experience in automotive bumper design and development.High-level proficiency in CATIA V5 and V6.Strong 3D modeling and 2D drawing experience.Experience developing layouts and engineering designs for OEM applications.Experience working with automotive styling teams and evaluating styling feasibility.Knowledge of OEM product-development processes and milestones.Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing teams.Ability to negotiate technical/design requirements with styling, suppliers and factory teams.Knowledge of part and assembly cost drivers.Experience with supplier quote evaluation and cost analysis.Experience with gap & flushness, IQS, wiring/piping and vehicle/component evaluation activities.Strong communication and coordination skills.Ability to work 100% onsite at the OEM location in Raymond, Ohio.B.E. or equivalent engineering qualification
