Senior Designer (Home Automation)

About the RoleLead and oversee the full-cycle system design for home automation projects including lighting, HVAC control, AV distribution, security, access control, cinema rooms, and networking infrastructure from initial brief to approved-for-construction drawings. Accountable for the complete system design lifecycle from concept through commissioning support while providing technical leadership, mentorship, and quality oversight to Designers and CAD Operators. Support the continuous development of the design function by promoting best practices, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring all design outputs meet client’s standards before issuance.ResponsibilitiesPre-design document analysis performs a thorough and disciplined review of all received project documentation prior to commencing the design package.Identifies any missing information and proactively responds and follows up to ensure timely submission.Produce detailed design documentation, including single-line diagrams, rack layouts, cable schedules, E-eat maps of Wi-Fi access points occupancy sensor's, elevations layouts' equipment schedules, and device placement plans, using AutoCAD','Revit, or equivalent CAD tools.Develop comprehensive Bills of Materials for each project and issue structured RFQ packages to the Supply Chain team, review and technically validate returned cost prices before finalizing design submissions.Collaborate with Supply Chain on value-engineering exercises proposing approved alternative products that maintain performance standards while achieving cost targets.Own and manage the end-to-end review process of consultant comments by providing clear, technically justified responses, coordinating internally for design and cost impacts, incorporating agreed changes into deliverables, and ensuring all comments are fully resolved and formally closed without impacting project timelines or design integrity.Attend design-coordination meetings with architects, interior designers, MEP consultants, and main contractors maintain the technical authority of the home automation design through all project stages.Act as the technical lead for Designers and CAD Operators, providing guidance on design approaches, standards, best practices, and project-specific requirements.Perform peer reviews of design deliverables prepared by Designers and CAD Operators, including layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, elevations, schedules, and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compti'an'6é-with clients standards prior to issuance.Support the development of Designers and CAD Operators through knowledge sharing, on-the-job coaching, technical guidance, and regular design review sessions.Provide constructive feedback on drawing quality and technical execution, helping team members continuously improve drafting accuracy, documentation standards, and system design practices.Assist the Director of Engineering in identifying technical training and development needs within the design function and contribute to the creation of development plans to strengthen team capability.Champion adherence to client’s design standards, templates, and documentation processes, promoting consistency and quality across all project deliverables.Serve as a senior technical reviewer for design packages, validating Constructability, coordination, and technical compliance before submission for final approval and client issuance.Conduct site surveys arid technical assessments to validate design feasibility, identify infrastructure constraints, and inform accurate material take-offs.Review shop drawings and technical submittals prepared by design / document controller teams and issue RFIs and design clarifications in a timely manner to prevent Programme delays.Maintain a live design register and version-controlled document library and ensure the Supply Chain team always works from the current-issue BOM.Support the commissioning phase by providing detailed sequence of operation scene settings programming narratives, as-built documentation, and end-client handover packages.Stay ahead of industry trends evaluate emerging protocols (Matter, Thread, Wi-Fi 7), new product releases, and regulatory updates, present findings to the wider design and commercial teams.Receive all plans/layouts from the consultant/contractor and organize them in the project's folder.Build all projects layouts, schematic diagrams and single line diagrams.Create all projects data tables.Work closely with the project manager to cover all aspects of the designs.Handle the communications with the project's stakeholders regarding all design related activities.Accountable to ensure that client 's design standards are followed to achieve optimal results.Train & support the CAD drafters to build their capabilities to design following client standards.Ensure that designs are submitted in a timely manner and as per agreed due dates.Ensure that all final designs receive the internal formal functional & technical approvals before submission to client.Use of design software to generate required reports/tables.Perform all project related activities through the project management software.Verify that the quantity of devices/items in the designs match those quantities in the BOQ.Build the base program (Software) of each project which will serve as the starting point for the programmers commissioning process.Contribute creative ideas, propose innovative solutions, and push the boundaries of design.Stay up to date with industry trends and technology to incorporate new methods or materials.QualificationsQualification BSc / BEng in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, or Mechatronic Engineering.Required Skills5+ years signing integrated home automation or building control systemsDemonstrable full-project ownership from design.Proficiency in at least 2 major control platforms (Crestron, Control4, Lutron, or KNX, Multiroom audio, Network infrastructure,
