Senior Desktop Support Engineer - Leading Global Hedge Fund - London

My client, a market-leading, global, multi-billion-dollar AUM hedge fund, is looking to hire a Senior Desktop Engineer into its London office.The successful candidate will join a small, highly collaborative technology team, taking a senior technical position within the end-user engineering function. This is a broad, hands-on role spanning L1 through L3 support, BAU and project work, with responsibility for supporting the firm's trading floor, senior executives, portfolio managers and wider global user base.The environment is predominantly Microsoft-based, with technologies including Windows, Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory and Citrix/VDI. The successful candidate will act as a senior escalation point for more complex technical issues, while remaining comfortable getting involved across the full spectrum of desktop and end-user technology.The ideal candidate will have 7+ years' experience within desktop/end-user technology and will have supported demanding users within a hedge fund, asset manager, wealth manager or similarly high-touch financial environment. Strong technical skills are essential, but equally important will be exceptional customer service and experience delivering a white-glove/VIP support model. You should be confident supporting everyone from traders and portfolio managers through to senior executives and business owners.This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys working in a smaller technology environment where responsibilities are broad and individuals are not pigeonholed. You will be expected to take ownership of problems from start to finish, identify and document recurring issues, communicate with urgency and work closely with adjacent Systems, Infrastructure and Development teams.There is also scope to take on light team-lead and supervisory responsibilities, making this an excellent opportunity for a strong technical engineer looking to develop further into leadership.The firm is also heavily investing in AI and automation, so an interest in and practical exposure to tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or other AI technologies would be highly advantageous.This is a five-day-per-week, office-based position in London, reflecting the high-touch nature of the role and its proximity to the firm's users.My client is committed to paying a strong increase on base salary + market-leading bonuses.
