Employment Type: Full-TimeWork Arrangement: 100% On-Site — This position is not remote or hybridAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Director, ASC Operations to serve as a strategic and operational partner to the Governing Board, physician leadership, and facility Administrators across a multi-site ambulatory surgery center (ASC) portfolio.Operating in a capacity similar to a Chief of Staff, this role provides the Board and physician owners with greater visibility into operational and financial performance, coordinates key initiatives across facilities, and ensures strategic decisions and priorities are translated into action.The Senior Director will work closely with facility Administrators while allowing them to maintain responsibility for the day-to-day management of their individual centers.

This position operates at the broader portfolio and Board level, connecting physician owners, Administrators, management partners, and other stakeholders.This is a 100% on-site position. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in person and traveling between facilities as required.What You'll DoServe as a strategic operational partner to the Governing Board and physician leadership.Partner with facility Administrators to identify operational priorities, opportunities, risks, and issues requiring Board attention.Review and interpret financial and operational performance, including P&L, EBITDA, case volume, labor, payer mix, case costs, and physician utilization.Translate financial and operational data into clear, actionable insights for physician owners and Board members.Coordinate Board and leadership reporting across the ASC portfolio.Support Governing Board, MEC/MAC, and Members Meetings, including preparation, reporting, follow-up, and tracking of decisions and action items.Drive accountability for Board priorities and strategic initiatives across Administrators, physicians, management partners, and other stakeholders.Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, standardize processes, reduce costs, and strengthen performance across facilities.Support physician utilization and operational analytics, including case volume, block utilization, capacity, and performance trends.Provide oversight and visibility into quality, QAPI, credentialing, regulatory, vendor, and facility matters requiring Board awareness or action.Support vendor and service agreement evaluations, contract discussions, and major operational or capital initiatives.Serve as a central point of coordination for cross-facility initiatives and ensure appropriate follow-through and communication.Develop executive-level reports and presentations for physician owners and the Governing Board.Relationship with Facility AdministratorsFacility Administrators will continue to own the day-to-day management and operation of their individual centers.The Senior Director will operate at the portfolio and Board level, focusing on:VisibilityCoordinationFinancial and operational analysisAccountabilityStrategic executionCross-facility initiativesThis role is designed to strengthen alignment and execution without replacing the Administrator's responsibility for daily facility operations.What We're Looking ForMaster's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field preferred.7–10+ years of progressive experience in ASC, surgical services, or healthcare operations.Strong understanding of ASC operations and the physician-owned ASC environment.Experience working with senior leadership, physicians, Governing Boards, or ownership groups.Strong financial acumen and the ability to discuss P&L, EBITDA, budgets, case volume, labor, utilization, and other ASC performance indicators.Working knowledge of ASC regulatory, accreditation, QAPI, credentialing, and governance requirements.Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.Advanced Excel and executive-level reporting/presentation skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities across several facilities while maintaining appropriate accountability and documentation.Preferred ExperiencePrevious ASC Administrator, regional operations, or multi-site ASC experience.Experience with physician-owned or syndicated ASCs.California ASC experience.GI/endoscopy and/or ophthalmology experience.Experience working with an MSO or healthcare management organization.Clinical background or clinical fluency is beneficial but not required.Key AttributesStrategic: Sees across facilities and connects operational issues to broader organizational priorities.Financially Fluent: Comfortable discussing financial performance with physicians and translating financial results into operational actions.Highly Organized: Able to coordinate multiple facilities, Board cycles, projects, and stakeholders simultaneously.Influential: Able to drive accountability and progress without relying solely on direct authority.Physician-Focused: Comfortable working directly with surgeon owners and communicating complex information clearly and concisely.Action-Oriented: Focused on turning Board decisions and strategic priorities into measurable action and ensuring appropriate follow-through.Why This Role MattersThe Senior Director, ASC Operations will serve as the operational extension of the Governing Board, providing the coordination, visibility, analysis, and follow-through necessary to effectively manage a growing multi-site ASC portfolio.The successful candidate will help ensure physician owners and Board members have clear insight into financial performance, operational efficiency, physician utilization, quality, and strategic initiatives, while enabling facility Administrators to remain focused on successfully managing their individual centers.
