While a traditional Director Editor simply makes the scenes they are assigned, the Senior Director ensures that every single scene Plotsy produces is excellent, cohesive, and crafted by a team that is continuously improving. You bridge the gap between creative intuition and objective, scalable standards.How You Will Spend Your Time40% Elite Directing & Execution: Personally cracking the hardest sequences, handling heavy dialogue, and directing style-setting pilot episodes.40% Mentorship & Coaching: Reviewing Director Editors' work, running live screen-share training, and leading role-specific talent acquisition.20% Standards & Process Ownership: Defining written craft metrics, enforcing quality gates, and partnering with engineers to evolve the AI pipeline.Daily ResponsibilitiesGenerate Elite Scenes: Direct and assembly-cut narrative scenes to the highest benchmark in the company.Refine Model Performance: Command high-precision AI model outputs for emotional registers, eyelines, and lipsync.Bypass Prompt Limits: Take over complex blocking or heavy dialogue scenes where standard prompting fails.Conduct Scene Reviews: Critique Director Editors' work early to catch errors while they are cheap to fix.Lead Live Training: Run hands-on, screen-shared coaching sessions while narrating your creative decisions.Drive Alignment: Keep the craft bar consistent across different titles, regardless of which director is assigned.Document Standards: Author clear, objective definitions of what "approved" work looks like with real pass/fail examples.Enforce Quality Gates: Hold the line on quality under tight deadlines, escalating schedule costs to the Showrunner and CPO when necessary.Optimize the Pipeline: Feed successful directing workflows to the Principal AI Production Engineer to upgrade production rulesets.What You Must BringNarrative Directing Body of Work: Substantial experience directing finished, long-form narrative content (not just fragments).NLE Editorial Proficiency: Genuine, hands-on assembly cutting mastery in Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid.Generative Tool Mastery: Deep experience with AI video/image platforms, reference conditioning, seed management, and artifact cleanup.Flawless Performance Instinct: The ability to instantly spot a false performance, name the exact failure, and teach someone how to fix it.Standards-Based Thinking: The skill to turn subjective creative taste into actionable, objective written criteria.Deadline Discipline: The judgment to know exactly when a scene lands so production schedules stay on track.Radical Candor: The ability to tell a talented creator their work isn't landing in a way that makes them better rather than defensive.Application RequirementsIf you are a cinematic problem-solver who loves books, cutting-edge AI technology, and building world-class creative teams, come shape the future of storytelling at Plotsy. Finalists must successfully complete a paid practical exercise assessing live scene generation, training narration, and written standard execution.
