Senior Director of Engineering

Our DeepTech IoT client is reinventing how the world experiences sound. Their software powers the world’s largest fully integrated concert-grade audio system - nearly 170,000 individually amplified speaker drivers delivering precise, immersive sound across 20,000 seats at one of the planet’s most technologically ambitious entertainment venues.Founded in Berlin in 2012, acquired by a NYSE-listed entertainment group, and named one of TIME's Best Inventions.Role Overview:You’ll join as Senior Director of Software Engineering, reporting to the CTO, leading multiple cross-functional teams building real-time, fail-safe software that powers live shows for tens of thousands of people.

Key Responsibilities

Lead multiple software engineering teams and their managers, while strengthening the wider engineering leadership team.Build credibility and trust within a highly experienced, long-tenured engineering organisation.Stay close to the technology, shaping architecture and key technical decisions alongside senior engineers.Identify delivery risks early and communicate them clearly across Product, leadership and key stakeholders.Drive an engineering culture centred on precision, resilience and reliability rather than speed alone.Define and implement an AI-enabled approach to software development across the organisation.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading engineering organisations, including managing engineering managers.Existing background in environments where software and hardware intersect, such as IoT or embedded mission-critical systems.Solid understanding of fail-safe system design and highly available environments where downtime carries significant consequences.Strong technical credibility and the leadership presence to earn the trust of highly senior engineers.Able to work from the Berlin office three days per week.If you want to make the software behind the world's most ambitious live sound as reliable as it is groundbreaking - and lead the team that does it - we'd love to hear from you.
