Team members join an environment where cutting-edge data systems directly support critical real-world missions.Role Description The Senior Director of Engineering is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Washington DC–Baltimore area, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role leads engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and scaling Warfighter AI’s core data platforms and integration services. Day-to-day responsibilities include setting technical direction, defining architectural standards, and overseeing the delivery of secure, high-performance software systems. The Senior Director of Engineering will collaborate closely with product, operations, and mission stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, manage complex projects, and ensure that engineering output aligns with operational requirements. This role also involves recruiting and mentoring engineers, establishing best practices for software development and testing, and fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusive teamwork.Qualifications Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills, with experience guiding cross-functional engineering groups and developing high-performing teams.Proficiency in Software Development and Integration, including architecting scalable systems and overseeing end-to-end implementation in modern cloud or data environments.Demonstrated Project Management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and delivery of complex technical initiatives.Extensive experience in building and operating data platforms, distributed systems, or high-throughput services in mission-critical contexts.Ability to translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps, with clear metrics, timelines, and resource plans.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, product, and mission-focused teams.Background in defense, national security, data engineering, or similarly demanding environments is highly beneficial.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
