Job DescriptionOur client, a prominent Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to providing high-quality, affordable, patient-centered healthcare, is hiring a Senior Director of Operations, Ambulatory Services. This vital leadership position offers an opportunity for a highly experienced health care professional to oversee ambulatory care operations across multiple sites within a large healthcare network. As Senior Director, the successful candidate will contribute to strategic planning, operational excellence, and program development, supporting the organization’s mission to deliver compassionate, accessible primary and specialty care to diverse communities. This role involves collaborating with medical leaders, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering community engagement, all within a dynamic, mission-driven environment.ResponsibilitiesCoordinate policy development and program implementation for ambulatory services Oversee operational, administrative, and financial aspects of ambulatory care programs, including budgeting and resource allocation. Lead and supervise staff, ensuring efficient patient access, provider productivity, and quality standards. Monitor and analyze KPIs such as booking rates, no-show rates (target below 20%), and patient volume (around 18-20 patients per provider). Collaborate with medical and operational leaders to improve workflows, achieve performance targets, and implement best practices. Manage relationships with union staff (DC37, 1199) and ensure compliance with FQHC and HRSA standards. Prepare for and support panel interview processes with senior executive teams, including presentation of strategic vision and community engagement initiatives. Serve as acting or interim site director in the absence of the Director of Ambulatory Care Services. RequirementsMinimum of seven years of full-time experience in ambulatory care operations or multisite practice management within a healthcare setting. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Social Sciences, Management, or related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred and may substitute for part of the experience. Demonstrated ability to run a practice or multisite operation with a track record of leadership and supervision. Strong knowledge of FQHC/HRSA standards and regulations. Proven experience working with unionized staff and managing diverse teams. Exceptional interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills, with humility and a collaborative approach. Ability to work closely with medical professionals and community stakeholders, exemplifying strategic vision and community engagement. Must be “boots on the ground,” with a strong operational focus and the capacity to handle complex, fast-paced environments.
