Senior Dotnet Developer

THE ROLEWe are looking for a Senior .NET Developer to join our backend engineering team and play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, high-performance services across Thawani's fintech platform.This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys architecting scalable backend solutions with ASP.NET Core, solving complex technical challenges, and collaborating closely with Product Owners, QA, and fellow engineers to deliver secure, reliable services.Beyond writing code, you'll drive technical design, review code, mentor junior developers through day-to-day collaboration, and help maintain backend engineering standards across the team. You will report directly to the Backend Team Lead and support them in delivering complex features while working alongside a small, highly collaborative engineering team focused on secure, scalable fintech solutions.WHAT YOU'LL DO–   Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance .NET Core RESTful APIs and services.–   Lead technical design and translate business requirements into robust, maintainable backend solutions.–   Build and optimize data layers using MS SQL Server and ORMs such as Entity Framework Core and Dapper.–   Integrate with external systems via REST and SOAP APIs using a range of authentication and authorization methods.–   Write secure, testable, and maintainable code following clean-code standards, SOLID principles, and established architectural guidelines.–   Review code, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior developers to promote continuous learning and code quality.–   Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across development, testing, UAT, and production environments.–   Optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and database efficiency.–   Implement secure backend development practices suitable for fintech applications, aligned with the OWASP Top 10.–   Participate in technical discussions, task estimation, solution design, and continuous improvement of backend architecture and processes.–   Participate in technical interviews and code review exercises during the hiring process.–   Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude to improve engineering productivity while maintaining high code quality.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBackend Development–   Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET Core Web API.–   Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle, SOLID principles, and clean architecture.–   Experience designing and integrating third-party and internal APIs.–   Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth and JWT.–   Experience designing scalable, maintainable, and testable backend systems.Database & ORM–   Strong knowledge of MS SQL Server, including query optimization and performance tuning.–   Hands-on experience with ORMs such as Entity Framework Core and Dapper.Security–   Strong understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices.–   Experience implementing secure authentication, authorization, and data protection in production systems.Education & Experience–   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.–   4+ years of backend development experience using the .NET framework.–   Experience mentoring developers and contributing to engineering standards.Soft Skills–   Excellent written and verbal communication skills.–   Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and technical leadership abilities.–   Demonstrated ownership mindset and ability to take initiative.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS–   Experience in finance, e-commerce, or other high-security domains.–   Experience with message queues, caching, and distributed systems.–   Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployment.–   Experience working within Agile development teams.NICE TO HAVE–   Familiarity with AI-assisted software development practices.WHY JOIN THAWANI TECHNOLOGIESAt Thawani, you'll have the opportunity to work on products that are transforming digital payments across Oman and the GCC.You'll join a collaborative engineering team where your ideas matter, your technical expertise is valued, and you'll have the opportunity to influence products used by thousands of customers every day.We foster a culture of continuous learning, ownership, innovation, and engineering excellence while encouraging our teams to explore modern technologies and improve the way we build software.If you're passionate about backend development, fintech, and building secure, high-performance applications that make a real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.
