About the RoleBrickwork Ratings is looking for a Senior Economist to lead its macroeconomic and financial research function. You will lead and mentor a team of economists and financial analysts, build econometric and credit-risk models, author high-impact research for investors, policymakers, and markets, and advise senior management and regulators. The role sits at the intersection of research, credit ratings, and regulatory engagement.Key Responsibilities1. Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop a team of economists and financial analysts; set research priorities, assign and review deliverables, and manage timelines and quality.Build team capability in econometrics, statistical and machine-learning modeling (R/Python), and research writing.2. Research & ModelingConduct in-depth macroeconomic and financial research across sectors and geographies, with a focus on implications for Indian credit markets.Develop and maintain econometric models for forecasting, scenario analysis, policy evaluation, and credit risk; continuously enhance model accuracy and efficiency using advanced statistical and machine-learning techniques.Monitor global economic developments, monetary and fiscal policy, and market trends, translating them into actionable insights for ratings and research.3. Publications & Stakeholder EngagementAuthor high-quality research reports, presentations, and briefing notes for internal and external audiences.Present findings with clarity and confidence to senior leadership, clients, rating committees, and external partners.Collaborate with cross-functional teams (ratings, structured finance, sales, and compliance) to support strategic initiatives and client engagements.4. Regulatory, ESG & Climate RiskTrack and interpret credit-rating regulations, RBI/SEBI guidelines, and related supervisory expectations; support senior management with research and analysis for day-to-day regulatory requirements.Analyse climate risk and ESG trends — drawing on frameworks such as TCFD and NGFS — and integrate them into economic, credit, and financial analysis.Stay current with global regulatory changes and evolving ESG standards, and assess their impact on BWR's research and rating methodologies.Qualifications & ExperienceAdvanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.8+ years of experience in analytical roles within the financial services industry — spanning macroeconomic research, econometrics, credit research, industry research, or financial research.Minimum 2 years of team leadership experience managing economists and financial analysts.Proven expertise in developing sectoral forecasting models, credit risk models, and authoring high-quality research outputs. Working knowledge of R and/or Python for statistical modeling and data analysis (preferred).Advanced proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).Other Competencies & SkillsetsStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels — from analysts to senior leadership, regulators, and clients.Prior exposure to rating agencies, think tanks, or financial institutions.Familiarity with climate risk frameworks (e.g., TCFD, NGFS) and ESG rating methodologies.Understanding of model risk management principles and governance requirements.About Brickwork RatingsBrickwork Ratings (BWR) is one of India's leading credit rating agencies, committed to providing the investment community with the products and services needed to make informed investment decisions.
