High-Power Electronics & Embedded ArchitectureHarness the Kilowatts. Command the Architecture. Own the Breakthrough. The Reality: Escaping the Corporate Sandbox to Build What Actually MattersSilicon Valley is full of brilliant electrical engineers whose talents have been reduced to optimizing battery margins on disposable consumer gadgets or waiting six months for committee approval to alter a single trace. Meanwhile, true hardware innovators know there is nothing quite like designing physical systems that push thousands of watts into an optical pulse with microsecond clinical precision. If you are tired of corporate theater and hunger for real engineering that transforms human lives, this is where your trajectory changes. At our Client—a Silicon Valley medical pioneer and multi-year USA TODAY Top Workplace—hardware is not an outsourced liability; it is the proprietary crown jewel. The Strategic Frontier: Where High-Power Physics Meets the Leadership HorizonAesthetic medical lasers operate at the extreme edge of electrical engineering. Inside our Client’s Palo Alto advanced development facility, your mandate goes far beyond maintaining legacy files or playing a supporting role. You will stand at the whiteboard and the test bench as the primary electrical authority, taming 1,000 volts, 400 amps, and 4 kilowatts of pulsed energy without corrupting the microvolt signals sitting an inch away. This seat is an intentional launching pad: our Client is actively seeking a visionary engineer who can prove their technical authority at the bench and eventually step into the leadership role heading their embedded systems group. You are not just building hardware; you are positioning yourself to direct the future architecture of their intelligent device ecosystem. The Canvas: Blank-Sheet Autonomy from Raw Concept to Clinically Cleared SystemWe do not believe in separating the thinker from the builder. In this role, you possess end-to-end command across the full hardware lifecycle, partnering across mechanical, software, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams throughout New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering:Pulsed Power Conversion & Magnetics: Design, simulate, and build high-density switching supplies, custom transformers, magnetic circuits, constant current sources, and high-speed IGBT/MOSFET gate-drive topologies (high-power switching, motor control, switching supplies) engineered to handle up to 1,000 V, 400 A, and 4 kW.Dense Multilayer Altium Execution: Architect complex multilayer printed circuit boards using Altium Designer from schematic capture through layout, conquering return paths, severe EMI challenges, and tight thermal constraints.Next-Gen Embedded Systems & Architecture: Lead hardware development for embedded controllers powered by ARM microcontrollers and microprocessors, establishing the foundational embedded platforms that will scale across our Client's future product roadmap.Precision Mixed-Signal & Analog Conditioning: Architect mixed-signal systems, including ADCs, DACs, operational amplifier circuits (amplifiers, integrators, differentiators, and instrumentation front ends), signal conditioning, and basic digital design interfacing.Serial Bus Integration & Interconnects: Integrate and validate robust low-level communication protocols (I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, and related buses) and design complete system wiring harnesses and electrical interconnect cables.Mechatronics & Electro-Optics: Synchronize precision robotics, motion systems, and motor drives with electro-optical instrumentation and pyroelectric sensor detectors.Lifecycle Component Curation: Select critical electronic components with rigorous consideration for electrical performance, reliability, availability, bill-of-materials cost, and long-term obsolescence management.Hands-On Lab Diagnostics & Bring-Up: Live at the bench during early builds—performing hands-on prototype assembly, SMD rework, lab troubleshooting, board-level bring-up, and hardware/software integration and debugging.Safety-Critical Verification & Regulatory Command: Direct system-level verification, electrical safety compliance (IEC 60601-1), EMC/EMI mitigation, and product validation activities under FDA design controls. The DNA: The Mark of a True Systems CraftsmanThis seat cannot be filled by a process manager or a keyboard-only theoretician. Our Client needs a deep-bench Technical Expert who brings:Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.Documented Hardware Lineage: 10–15+ years of direct, hands-on electrical engineering experience taking complex electronic products through the entire product development lifecycle from initial concept through high-yield commercial production.Battle-Tested Power Acumen: Proven, demonstrable track record working with high-voltage and high-power electronic systems (up to 1,000 V, 400 A, and 4 kW), switching power supply design, and magnetic circuit topologies.PCB & Embedded Fluency: Extensive, documented experience designing multilayer PCBs in Altium Designer alongside deep hands-on embedded hardware engineering utilizing ARM-based architectures.Regulated Device Discipline: Direct experience developing electronic hardware within FDA-regulated medical devices or other safety-critical, regulated medical electronic environments (medical aesthetic or medical laser experience strongly preferred).Embedded Leadership Aptitude: Deep technical fluency across embedded systems, serial bus architectures, and cross-functional team collaboration, backed by the communication skills, project-oriented mindset, and executive presence required to eventually step into a leadership role heading the embedded systems group.Workbench Mastery: Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an instinct for lab instrumentation, prototype evaluation, and SMD board-level rework. The Spoils: Tangible Wealth Creation in the Heart of the ValleyTrue technical command and group-leadership trajectory deserve significant equity and life-changing upside, not just an incremental base raise.Direct Wealth Infrastructure: $190,000 – $200,000 Base Salary + Annual Profit-Sharing Bonus + Direct Equity/Stock Incentive Participation + 401(k) with Employer Match.Total Life Support: Full executive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA); comprehensive life, disability, and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance; dedicated maternity and paternity leave; generous paid time off (PTO); and potential on-site childcare access in Palo Alto.A Culture of Truth and Ownership: Four consecutive years recognized as a USA TODAY Top Workplace (2022–2025), built on selflessness, candor, innovation, execution, objectivity, excellence, learning, ownership, and clarity. The Decision: Reclaim Command of Your CraftElite engineers do not wait for permission to advance their careers—they recognize the right inflection point and take the wheel. If your current role has capped your autonomy, dulled your technical edge, or masked your path toward leading an embedded engineering organization, we invite you to take the next decisive step in your career trajectory and apply.
