Senior Electrical Engineer – Satellite Systems

Location: San Jose, CAEmployment Type: Full-TimeSalary Range: $165,000 – $190,000 USDAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the development of next-generation satellite systems.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced hardware engineer with deep expertise in electronics design, digital system debugging, and power electronics who enjoys staying hands-on while helping guide technical direction across complex spacecraft programs.You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reliable, flight-ready hardware while supporting junior engineers through technical mentorship, reviews, and collaborative problem-solving. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge spacecraft development in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.What You’ll DoCollaborate with electrical engineering teams across hardware design, debugging, and system integration activitiesProvide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers through design reviews, troubleshooting support, and hands-on problem solvingReview schematics, support board bring-up activities, and debug complex hardware systems in laboratory environmentsDebug and validate digital systems including logic-level circuits, microcontrollers, and embedded interfacesSupport power electronics development, including DC/DC converters, power distribution systems, and power integrity analysisTroubleshoot and validate serial communication protocols such as I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, and EthernetDefine and maintain engineering standards, validation methodologies, and hardware test processesPartner closely with software, systems, mechanical, and integration teams to deliver flight-ready spacecraft hardwareSupport system integration, hardware validation, and issue resolution throughout development and test campaignsWhat We’re Looking ForRequired Qualifications:B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline8–12+ years of experience in hardware development and electrical system designStrong hands-on experience debugging electronics, including digital systems and power electronicsProficiency with PCB design and schematic tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent platformsSolid understanding of serial communication protocols including I²C, SPI, UART, CAN, and EthernetExperience working with laboratory debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzersStrong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers and work across multidisciplinary teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience developing spacecraft, aerospace, or other high-reliability hardware systemsFamiliarity with environmental testing including vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC, and qualification testingKnowledge of design-for-test (DFT), fault-tolerant systems, or radiation-tolerant electronicsExperience supporting hardware integration and system-level validation activities
