Senior Electrical Engineer

Sr Engineer II, Electrical BOPWe are seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer with deep expertise in short circuit analysis and arc flash studies. The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license (not required) and have a proven track record of conducting and approving these studies, and demonstrate thorough knowledge of all relevant codes and standards governing arc flash safety.Role Responsibilities:Perform and review short circuit studies and arc flash hazard analyses for electrical systemsApprove study reportsRecommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy levelsPrepare technical documentation, including one-line diagrams, protective device coordination, and arc flash labelingDevelop and maintain accurate electrical system models using ETAPCollaborate with project teams and clients to gather system data and validate inputsProvide training and mentorship on electrical safety and power system analysisProvide technical support for NERC standards (i.e., PRC-019, PRC-024, etc) and, where possible, conduct studies to meet NERC complianceCollaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline processes, procedures, and methodologies associated with power system studiesEnsure compliance with all relevant codes and standards, including:NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the WorkplaceIEEE 1584 – Arc-Flash Hazard CalculationsOSHA 29 CFR 1910 – Electrical Safety RegulationsNEC (NFPA 70) – National Electrical CodeNESC – National Electrical Safety CodeTravel to sites 20-25% of the timeJob Requirements and Experiences: A Master's or Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or PhysicsA Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferredA minimum of 7 years in power systems engineering with a focus on short circuit and arc flash studiesA minimum of 7 years of professional experience with operating and analyzing high-voltage power systems equipmentA minimum of 7 years of professional experience applicable to electric power generation, generation management, and automatic generation controlDetailed knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment, transformers, switchgear, transmission feeders, substations, and renewable energyKnowledge of Codes and Standards: NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC, NESC, OSHA regulationsStrong understanding of protective device coordination and relay settingsFamiliarity with the North American Electrical Reliability Corporation (NERC) standardsFamiliarity with industry modeling software such as PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, TSAT, and ETAP (a plus)Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assignedStrong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationshipsDemonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables spaceExcellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and TeamsStrong leadership and communication, and the ability to meet deadlinesStrong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverablesAbility to multitask, while working independently and as part of a teamMotivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilitiesProven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgroundsResponds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachableIs detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
