We’re partnering with a well-funded, venture-backed AI company that’s modernizing a large legacy industry through computer vision, machine learning, and modern software. Following a recent funding round, the company is continuing to expand its engineering team and invest in the next generation of intelligent hardware products. The company’s platform combines advanced AI software with purpose-built edge devices that process data in real time. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team and help build physical products that will be deployed at scale across real-world customer environments. We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to own the development of connected hardware products from early architecture and prototyping through production and scale. You’ll be responsible for schematic design, PCB layout, board fabrication, bring-up, validation, manufacturing support, and continued improvement after deployment. This is not a narrowly focused board design role. The company is looking for someone who wants to understand the full product, move quickly across multiple product lines, and take responsibility for getting hardware into customers’ hands. You’ll work closely with mechanical engineering, embedded software, industrial design, product, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to turn early concepts into reliable, production-ready systems. The role offers significant visibility and ownership as the company builds out its hardware organization. For someone who proves they can consistently develop and ship products, there is meaningful potential to grow into a senior hardware leadership position as the team expands. This is a full-time, permanent position onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.Responsibilities:Own electrical hardware development from early concept through production, including system architecture, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, and design reviewsDevelop connected hardware products across multiple product lines, including cameras, intercoms, access-control devices, and edge-computing systemsAdapt chipset reference designs and evaluation boards into reliable, cost-effective production hardwarePrepare board designs for fabrication and work with manufacturing partners through prototype and production buildsLead board bring-up, debugging, and electrical validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipmentDesign and validate high-speed digital interfaces such as DDR/LPDDR, MIPI CSI-2, USB, Ethernet, and PoEEvaluate designs against performance, power, thermal, reliability, cost, and form-factor requirementsIntegrate processors, memory, image sensors, networking components, audio systems, and other peripheralsDesign for demanding real-world environments, including PoE power constraints, surge protection, ESD protection, and thermal performance within sealed enclosuresCollaborate across electrical, mechanical, embedded software, industrial design, product, and manufacturing teamsSupport hardware and embedded software integration, including debugging across the electrical and software boundaryOwn the hardware development lifecycle through EVT, DVT, PVT, manufacturing handoff, production, and field deploymentPartner with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and external engineering teams to support NPI, quality, cost, and production schedulesTroubleshoot board-level and system-level issues throughout development and deploymentDevelop rapid prototypes and turn early-stage ideas into functional hardwareHelp establish the technical practices and processes that will support a growing hardware organizationMust-Have Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field5+ years of experience designing electrical hardware productsStrong schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring-up, debugging, and validation experienceExperience with high-speed digital design and standard interfaces such as DDR, MIPI, USB, Ethernet, or PoEExperience taking a commercial hardware product from prototype through manufacturing and productionHands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electrical test equipmentAbility to work across electrical, mechanical, embedded software, and manufacturing teamsStrong end-to-end ownership and the ability to move quickly in a startup environmentNice to Have Skills:Experience with Ambarella, NXP i.MX, or similar embedded SoC platformsWorking knowledge of C, embedded Linux, BSPs, bootloaders, device trees, or hardware driversCamera or imaging experience, including image sensors, ISP tuning, IR illumination, or camera integrationExperience with connected security, access control, intercom, IoT, robotics, automotive, or edge-computing productsFamiliarity with wireless, audio, or access-control technologies such as NFC, BLE, OSDP, Wiegand, or RS-485Experience with regulatory compliance, global manufacturing partners, or technical leadershipMandarin Chinese proficiencyBenefits:Competitive compensation package including equity (base salary starting between $200-250k+ depending on experience)100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision and base life insurance401k (traditional and roth options)Flexible paid time offDaily team meals and regular team off-sitesCompany-provided top tech, equipment, and engineering toolsFree onsite EV charging
