About the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to help us design a high-performance motor drive electronics system for our robotic platforms. You'll own hardware from concept through production, designing custom PCBs, selecting and characterizing motors, encoders, sensors, architecting drive electronics, and ensuring every board you release passes EMI/EMC with margin to spare. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who wants to be the deepest technical expert in the room on motors and power electronics. You'll work closely with mechanical, controls, firmware, and regulatory/quality teams to bring safe, reliable, FDA-compliant robotic subsystems to life. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, specify, and characterize BLDC/Stepper/Brushed DC motors for precision robotic actuation — balancing torque density, size, thermal performance, and cost against tight mechanical envelopes.Design motor driver circuits (FOC/trapezoidal commutation, current sensing, gate drive, protection circuitry) for brushless and/or brushed motors.Lead full PCB design lifecycle, schematic capture, layout (including high-current, mixed-signal, and high-speed considerations), stack-up definition, DFM/DFA, and coordination with fab/assembly partners.Own EMI/EMC design strategy from the schematic stage onward, filtering, shielding, grounding architecture, layout techniques to minimize radiated/conducted emissions and ensure immunity. Support pre-compliance testing and formal EMC certification (e.g., IEC 60601-1-2) for medical devices.Design power delivery and conversion circuits (DC-DC, gate drivers, current/voltage sensing, protection) supporting motor and system-level power needs.Work closely with mechanical engineers on motor/actuator integration, with firmware/controls engineers on motor control algorithms, and with quality/regulatory on design controls and compliance documentation (IEC 60601, ISO 13485).Define test plans and bring-up procedures for new boards; debug hardware issues down to the component/signal level using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power analyzers.Set design standards and review the work of other engineers; be a go-to expert on motors, drive electronics, and EMI/EMC across the team. Who We Are Looking ForDegree in Electrical/Electronics/Robotics , or a related engineering field.5+ years of electrical engineering experience, with substantial time spent on motor design and/or motor driver electronics.Demonstrated experience taking boards through EMI/EMC pre-compliance and certification, ideally for medical devices (IEC 60601-1-2) or another regulated/safety-critical industry (automotive, aerospace).Knowledge in analog and power electronics fundamentals: power supply design, thermal management, protection circuits, signal integrity.Experienced in working in the lab, bring-up, debug, and validation using scopes, spectrum analyzers, thermal cameras, and power analyzers.A track record of taking hardware from prototype to production-released, manufacturable design.Excellent communication skills, able to work cross-functionally with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and regulatory teams and clearly document design decisions. Experiences We ValueExperience with surgical, interventional, or other Class II/III medical robotic systems.Experience in Medical device industry and knowledge of IEC-60601-1-1, IEC-60601-1-2, ISO 13485 or similar.Experienced in working on ECAD softwares like Altium or Ki-CAD.Experience in fast‑paced startup environments, comfortable with evolving priorities and broad ownership.
