Senior Electronics Technologist Location: Southwark, London Salary: £70,000 We operate at the forefront of advanced and highly sensitive technologies, designing and delivering bespoke electronic and IT solutions that support specialist operations in complex, real-world environments.The Role You will act as the technical design authority for electronic systems, providing hands-on leadership, mentoring, and strategic direction to a team of experienced engineers. You will identify design issues early, guide teams toward robust solutions, and ensure all designs meet demanding operational requirements. A key aspect of the role is shaping the future technical direction of the electronics capability. This includes researching emerging technologies, evaluating modern components and techniques, and running proof-of-concept activities to demonstrate their suitability. What You’ll Be DoingProviding day-to-day technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to an electronics development teamActing as technical authority for electronic designs, ensuring quality, reliability and fitness for purposeLeading and conducting formal electronic design reviewsTranslating user requirements into robust technical solutionsSetting strategic technical direction and maintaining awareness of emerging technologiesWorking closely with suppliers, manufacturers and academic partnersMaintaining delivery momentum to meet operational deadlinesQualifications Essential Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or a related engineering discipline ORPostgraduate qualification (MEng or PhD) in an electronic engineering disciplineDesirable PhD in RF EngineeringChartered Engineer (CEng)Essential Experience You must be able to demonstrate: At least 12 years’ electronics design experienceTechnical leadership of an electronics systems development team with multi-disciplinary skillsDay-to-day technical oversight, mentoring and guidance of engineersSignificant experience in at least three of the following: RF design and analysisFPGA design (VHDL, simulation and hardware design)Schematic capture and multi-layer PCB designMiniaturisation and design for manufactureReal-time embedded systems (hardware and software design using C)Audio and communications systemsMechanical design and 3D modellingSecurity & Eligibility This role requires access to highly sensitive material.
