If you are passionate about embedded software and want to help build the future of music, we would love to hear from you.Role OverviewAs a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will own and drive embedded software development for the Legato platform, spanning Zephyr and Linux. This is a deeply hands-on, senior role: you will lead development efforts autonomously and write production code every day, together with our embedded software team and external development resources and our principal software architect. We are looking for a builder who takes ownership of problems end to end, not a project manager. The role is based in Amsterdam, with flexibility for hybrid working and relocation for the right candidate.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and ship embedded software for wireless speakers and other smart audio devices.Integrate and optimize the Legato platform on Zephyr and Linux.Own the Legato Zephyr repository and its development roadmap.Lead development autonomously and grow a small embedded team (one engineer today, up to five in year one) while remaining hands-on.Serve as the technical point of contact with customers, the Zephyr project, and our development partners.Debug, test, and optimize embedded systems for performance, efficiency, and reliability.Write and maintain technical documentation for internal teams and external partners.Identify and resolve software and hardware integration challenges alongside the architecture team.QualificationsRequired:8+ years of experience in software developmentStrong C/C++ programming for embedded systems.Deep, hands-on experience with Linux and Zephyr, ideally across multiple development environments and/or chipsets.Solid grounding in operating systems and IoT devices.Familiarity with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread).Preferred:Experience with the Matter protocol or other smart-home connectivity standards.Hands-on experience with audio devices or wireless technologies.Why Join Legato?Take real ownership of core technology shaping the future of wireless audio.Build and lead a small, senior team as the company scales.Work alongside experts in embedded software, audio technology, and smart-home ecosystems.Hybrid working from our Amsterdam base.Competitive salary, equity, and strong growth opportunities in a fast-moving startup.
