Employment Type: PermanentAbout the RoleWe are looking for a hands-on Senior Engineer in AI-Native IDE & Agentic Developer Tooling to join a small, highly technical R&D team in Amsterdam.

You will explore and build the next generation of AI-native developer experiences — from intelligent IDE capabilities and coding agents to context-aware, tool-using and self-verifying development workflows. This is a highly hands-on role with significant technical ownership. You will turn emerging ideas in LLMs, coding agents and developer tooling into working prototypes, evaluate new architectures, and help shape future product direction.ResponsibilitiesBuild working prototypes and technical demos for AI-native IDE and developer-tooling capabilities.Explore how modern coding agents handle context, tool use, planning, orchestration and verification.Design and prototype AI-assisted and agentic developer workflows that improve developer productivity and experience.Evaluate emerging IDE, LLM and agent architectures hands-on and translate findings into practical technical recommendations.Experiment with new approaches to context engineering, agent orchestration and coding-agent evaluation.Collaborate with universities, open-source communities, researchers and industry partners.Work closely with international R&D teams to influence technical direction and future product capabilities.QualificationsBased in Amsterdam or willing to relocate.Strong hands-on experience building IDE, developer-tooling or engineering-productivity features.Good understanding of IDE technologies such as IntelliJ Platform, PSI, LSP, or similar architectures.Practical experience with LLMs, coding agents, context engineering, agent orchestration, or evaluation.Strong software engineering skills and the ability to independently turn an early-stage idea into a working prototype.Strong engineering judgment and ability to evaluate emerging technologies beyond the proof-of-concept stage.Strong English communication skills and confidence working with international technical teams.Preferred SkillsExperience with compiler toolchains, build systems, runtimes, debugging, or developer test infrastructure.Contributions to developer tools, AI coding tools, research projects, or open-source communities.Experience building developer tooling for ecosystems with limited documentation, tooling, or training data.Experience with code intelligence, code completion, static analysis, refactoring, or program analysis.Strong technical communication skills and the ability to clearly explain and advocate for new technical ideas.Pay range and compensation packageThe position is based in Amsterdam and offers a competitive compensation package within an international R&D environment.Equal Opportunity StatementCandidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply in alignment with standard equal opportunity and non-discrimination principles.
