Their platform uses advanced ML and generative AI to turn complex unstructured documents into reliable structured data, used daily by some of the largest professional services firms in the country. The culture is high-octane and hands-on - everyone ships, including leadership.They’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to serve as a player-coach leading one of the core engineering teams - reporting directly to the CTO and co-founder. You’ll manage 4-7 staff and principal-level engineers (scaling to 10-12), stay an active technical contributor, and own hiring, onboarding, and team growth as the org scales.ResponsibilitiesDirectly manage 4-7 engineers (scaling to 10-12) at staff and principal level while staying an active technical contributor - writing code, reviewing designs, and debugging hard problems weeklyShip customer-facing, eval-driven AI products that turn unstructured documents into reliable structured data for enterprise customersDevelop exceptional engineers through direct feedback, coaching technical and product judgment, and growing future leadersOwn hiring, onboarding, and team growth - building a high-talent-density engineering org from the ground upConnect engineering decisions to real business outcomes - working closely with domain experts and customer-facing teamsRequirements10-20 years of software engineering experience spanning IC work and formal leadership progressionFormal engineering management experience (TLM, Senior TLM, or Director) managing 2-10 direct reportsStill hands-on in code - writes production software weekly if not daily, reviews designs and PRs, debugs hard problems alongside senior engineersBuilt or led external, customer-facing products at tech-forward, high-octane product companiesBackend, backend infrastructure, or full-stack with a backend leanPeople leadership - sets clear expectations, gives direct feedback, coaches technical and product judgment, addresses performance earlyExposure to ML/AI systems - agentic or retrieval-based systems, document AI, or eval-driven development a plusPython, TypeScript, and cloud infrastructure a plusTech StackPython, TypeScript, Cloud Infrastructure, Document AI, Agentic Systems, Retrieval-Based SystemsStartup speed meets enterprise scale. $415k-$450k base, RSU grant, and competitive equity.
