Our technology draws on diverse and reliable data to create a single point of truth for identity and address verification. With over 30 years of experience behind us our team and technology are focused on enabling safe and rewarding digital lives for everyone. Regardless of age, location or background, genuine people everywhere should be able to digitally prove who they are and where they live.About The Team And RoleGBG Go is the platform our customers use to design, deploy and operate identity verification journeys. It is where our data, decisioning and orchestration capabilities are exposed to the world — through the Go API, through Hosted Journeys that customers embed directly into their own onboarding flows, and through the Interactions Editor that lets them configure and evolve those journeys without writing code.We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Go Core Platform group: three full-stack squads, each aligned to one of these value streams. You will be accountable for the health, throughput and technical direction of all three, and for the coherence of the platform they collectively build — a single product experience rather than three adjacent ones. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is as comfortable in an architecture discussion as in a performance conversation. You will report into the SVP of Product Engineering and work closely with Product, Design, Architecture and Customer-facing teams.Alongside delivery, you will play a leading role in maturing how we build. GBG is investing in AI-enabled engineering, and this group is one of the places where that practice gets proven before it scales. You will shape the standards, guardrails and measurement that turn AI from individual experimentation into dependable organisational capability. What You Will DoDelivery Leadership Across Three Value StreamsOwn delivery outcomes for the Go API, Hosted Journeys and Interactions Editor squads — scope, sequencing, quality and predictabilityCreate clear commitments with Product and hold the line on them, while being honest early when reality changesKeep the three streams moving independently where they can and coordinated where they must, managing cross-squad dependencies before they become blockersEstablish and use meaningful delivery signals (flow, cycle time, change failure rate, escaped defects) to drive decisions rather than to report activityTechnical Direction and Platform CoherencePartner with architects and senior engineers on the technical direction of the Go core: API design and versioning, journey runtime behaviour, configuration modelling, and the boundaries between themHold the group to a shared standard for reliability, performance, observability and security of customer-facing surfacesActively manage technical debt and platform resilience as a planned investment, not a residual activityMake sure the three streams converge on shared patterns, components and contracts instead of drifting into three dialects of the same platformAI-Enabled Engineering and SDLC MaturityLead adoption of AI-assisted development across your squads — coding agents, review assistance, test generation, documentation and beyondDefine what good looks like: prompting and context practices, human review expectations, evaluation of generated output, and the guardrails that keep quality and security non-negotiableEstablish measurement for adoption and impact — on throughput, quality, and developer experience — and be rigorous about distinguishing real gains from perceived onesCodify what works into repeatable practice and share it outward, contributing to standards and enablement across the wider engineering organisationAdapt planning, estimation and review rituals to a world where the constraint is increasingly judgement and verification rather than authoring speedPeople LeadershipLead, coach and grow full-stack engineers across three squads, including tech leads and senior individual contributorsSet clear expectations, give direct and useful feedback, and run a fair, evidence-based approach to performance and progressionOwn hiring for the group, and raise the bar on how we assess engineers as you goBuild squads that are engaged and psychologically safe, and that take genuine ownership of what they run in productionStakeholder Partnership and CommunicationAct as the engineering counterpart to Product leadership for the Go core roadmapTranslate technical reality into terms commercial and executive stakeholders can act on — trade-offs, risks and confidence levels, not jargonRepresent the group in incident, escalation and customer-critical situations, and lead the follow-through afterwardsSkills We're Looking ForSignificant engineering management experience, including leading multiple teams or a group of squads (ideally 20+ engineers, directly and through tech leads)Track record delivering and operating customer-facing SaaS platforms at scale — public APIs, embedded/hosted experiences, or configuration-driven productsCredible full-stack technical depth: enough to challenge design decisions on both the service and front-end side, without needing to make them yourselfStrong grasp of modern engineering practice — CI/CD, trunk-based development, feature flagging, progressive delivery, testing strategy, observabilityDemonstrable, practical experience with AI-assisted development workflows, and a clear point of view on where they help, where they don't, and how to tell the differenceComfort with metrics and systems thinking — able to build measurement that changes behaviour rather than just populates a dashboardAbility to lead in a globally distributed environment, and to influence peers and squads you don't directly ownExcellent communication across technical, product and executive audiencesNice to HaveExperience in identity verification, fraud, KYC/AML, RegTech or another regulated data domainBackground with journey orchestration, workflow engines, low-code configuration tooling, or embeddable SDKs and widgetsExperience building or scaling internal developer platforms and enablement practiceTo find out more As an equal opportunity employer, we are dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.
