Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Estimation Engineer – Mechanical to lead cost estimation and tendering activities for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background with proven expertise in estimating HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting, and other mechanical building services systems for commercial, industrial, residential, or infrastructure projects.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical scope of MEP projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting & fire protection, and other mechanical services.Study tender documents, drawings, specifications, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) to understand project scope and estimate requirements.Carry out quantity take-offs (QTO) from drawings/models (2D drawings and BIM/Revit models where applicable).Obtain and evaluate quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers for materials and equipment.Prepare and compile competitive, technically sound, and commercially viable bid proposals within specified deadlines.Analyze technical specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, local authority regulations, etc.).Perform cost analysis, value engineering, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.Coordinate with design, procurement, planning, and project execution teams to gather necessary inputs for estimation.Liaise with clients, consultants, and vendors during the pre-bid and clarification stages.Prepare comparative cost statements, cash flow projections, and estimation summaries for management review.Maintain and update a database of historical costs, vendor rates, and market pricing trends.Support the tendering team in preparing technical and commercial proposals, including risk assessment and margin analysis.Participate in post-tender negotiations and clarification meetings as required.Ensure timely submission of estimates/tenders in line with client deadlines.Mentor and guide junior estimation engineers as needed.Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory); a Master's degree or PMP/estimation-related certification is a plus.Experience:6–10 years of relevant experience in MEP estimation, with a strong focus on mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting).Prior experience with MEP contracting firms, consultancies, or construction companies is preferred.Technical Skills:Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV, ductwork, piping), plumbing & drainage systems, and fire fighting systems.Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar).Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit/BIM for quantity take-offs.Advanced MS Excel skills for cost sheets, comparisons, and analysis.Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, BS, DIN) and local municipal/authority requirements.Understanding of contract types (lump sum, unit rate, cost-plus) and tendering processes.Soft Skills:Strong analytical and numerical ability with attention to detail.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Team player with leadership capability to guide junior staff.
