provide authoritative regulatory and architectural expertise for a major European e-Invoicing transformation programme.The successful candidate will work closely with the client’s Enterprise Architecture, ERP, Finance, Digital, IT and Procurement teams to define the target architecture and ensure the proposed solution complies with evolving e-Invoicing and digital reporting requirements across multiple European jurisdictions.This is a senior, consultative and client-facing role, focused on solution strategy, regulatory interpretation, architecture and stakeholder advisory rather than hands-on configuration or development.Key ResponsibilitiesEU e-Invoicing & Regulatory AdvisoryProvide expert guidance on European e-Invoicing and digital reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions, including Ireland, Spain and the UK.Monitor and communicate tax authority mandates, implementation timelines, scope and business obligations.Assess the architectural implications of clearance, continuous transaction control (CTC) and post-audit models.Advise stakeholders on current and emerging regulatory requirements, including ViDA readiness.Solution ArchitectureDefine the target solution architecture for the organisation’s European e-Invoicing programme.Translate legislative and tax requirements into scalable technical and functional architecture.Establish architecture principles, integration patterns and compliance controls.Design solutions capable of supporting multiple jurisdictions and future regulatory mandates.Peppol & Integration ArchitectureDefine integration approaches between ERP/retail platforms, cloud middleware and Peppol Access Providers.Provide expertise across the Peppol four-corner model, including Access Points, SMP/SML lookups and document routing.Establish approaches for message routing, asynchronous callbacks, error handling, retries, monitoring and audit trails.Ensure end-to-end document traceability and compliance.Standards & ComplianceEnsure solution designs align with EN 16931 and relevant invoice syntaxes, including UBL and UN/CEFACT CII.Assess digital signature, validation, archiving and country-specific statutory requirements.Identify compliance gaps and recommend appropriate architectural solutions.Stakeholder ManagementWork directly with senior stakeholders across Finance, IT, Digital, Procurement, ERP and Architecture.Present, explain and defend architectural recommendations and design decisions.Clearly communicate technical and regulatory trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.Act as the key escalation point for e-Invoicing regulatory and architectural matters.Delivery & Knowledge TransferProvide architectural guidance to delivery teams throughout implementation.Ensure development and configuration remain aligned with the agreed target architecture.Identify additional skills, resources and capabilities required for successful programme delivery.Transfer knowledge to the client’s permanent teams to ensure long-term regulatory and architectural capability.Required Experience & SkillsProven experience as a Solution Architect / Enterprise Architect / e-Invoicing Architect within European e-Invoicing programmes.Strong, demonstrable expertise in EU e-Invoicing across multiple jurisdictions.Strong knowledge of Peppol and the four-corner model.Practical understanding of Peppol Access Points, SMP, SML and routing mechanisms.Strong knowledge of EN 16931, UBL and UN/CEFACT CII.Experience with Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC) and digital reporting models.Understanding of ViDA and its impact on future European VAT and e-Invoicing architecture.Experience designing B2B/B2G integration and API architectures.Strong understanding of asynchronous integration, callbacks, retries, audit trails and error-handling mechanisms.Experience with cloud middleware and integration platforms.Proven experience designing solutions for multi-country / multi-jurisdiction environments.Solution architecture experience within regulated, financial, tax or compliance-sensitive environments.Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.Ability to operate confidently with senior executives and business/technology leadership.Desirable ExperienceExperience within retail or high-volume, multi-entity invoicing environments.Strong knowledge of Irish e-Invoicing and Revenue requirements.Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Retail or AS/400.Experience conducting ViDA readiness assessments.Experience developing forward-looking European tax compliance strategies.Previous experience working on large-scale European finance transformation programmes.Key AttributesStrong regulatory and architectural
