Team members contribute to high-impact projects that support customers in increasing efficiency, precision, and reliability in their manufacturing operations.Role Description The Senior Field Service Engineer is a full-time role based in the Midwest USA, supporting Yamaha’s SMT equipment at customer facilities. This position is responsible for installing, commissioning, and maintaining surface mount systems, including performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance. The engineer troubleshoots complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues, provides technical support and training to customer personnel, and documents service activities and recommendations. Daily work includes collaborating with internal engineering and support teams, preparing detailed service reports, and ensuring that customers experience minimal downtime and optimal equipment performance. The role requires regular travel to customer sites within the region and occasionally outside the region, while adhering to all safety and quality standards.QualificationsStrong field service experience, including on-site installation, commissioning, and repair of industrial equipment.Proficiency in troubleshooting and technical support for robotic, automation, or SMT systems.Hands-on preventive maintenance skills, including scheduled inspections, adjustments, and part replacements.Effective customer service abilities, with clear communication, professionalism, and a focus on long-term relationships.Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems; experience with PLCs or motion control is beneficial.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals.Comfort with travel to customer sites and working in production environments while following safety protocols.Relevant technical degree or diploma in engineering, electronics, mechatronics, or a related field; equivalent military or industry experience considered.Prior experience in robotics, factory automation, or SMT manufacturing strongly preferred.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
