About the clientOur client is a private equity-backed services business that has grown significantly through acquisition, creating a complex, multi-entity environment with ambitious plans for continued growth.As the business continues to scale, they are looking to appoint a Senior Financial Accountant to join their Melbourne-based finance team.About the roleReporting to the Finance Manager, this is a hands-on financial accounting role within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.You'll take broad ownership across month-end, financial reporting, balance sheet management and financial controls, helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of the group's financial information.With a business that has grown quickly through acquisition, there is also a significant focus on improving how finance operates. You'll work across existing processes and systems, identifying gaps, improving controls and helping build a more efficient and scalable finance function.Key responsibilities include:Take ownership of key areas of the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliationsPrepare accurate and timely monthly financial and management reporting across a multi-entity groupMaintain balance sheet integrity, ensuring key accounts are appropriately reconciled and supportedReview financial transactions and investigate discrepancies, accounting issues and control gapsSupport statutory reporting, tax compliance and external audit requirementsWork across billing, revenue and working capital processes to ensure transactional activity is accurately reflected in the general ledgerMaintain and strengthen financial controls, policies and procedures across the groupIdentify inefficiencies and improve finance processes as the organisation continues to scaleSupport systems improvements, automation and optimisation across month-end and financial reportingWork with the broader finance team to standardise processes across a growing multi-entity environmentAbout youThis opportunity is suited to an ambitious accountant looking to take the next step in their career within a complex, high-growth environment.This opportunity could suit a Big 4 or mid-tier second mover with commercial experience, an industry-trained accountant with 4–6+ years' progressive experience, or a Business Services / CFO Advisory first mover with hands-on month-end experience across multi-entity groups.The ideal candidate will demonstrate:CA or CPA qualified, or nearing completionStrong hands-on month-end experience across journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliationsExperience working within a multi-entity or similarly complex accounting environmentStrong financial reporting and balance sheet fundamentalsGood understanding of financial controls and accounting processesAn ability to investigate accounting issues and work through problems independentlySolid systems skills and an interest in improving and automating finance processesNetSuite experience would be advantageousProactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environmentWhat's on offerJoin a private equity-backed organisation experiencing significant growthOwnership across financial reporting and month-end within a complex multi-entity groupOpportunity to improve and optimise finance processes as the business continues to scaleWork closely with an experienced senior finance teamGenuine career development and progression opportunitiesFlexible working arrangements and Melbourne location
