We help organizations strengthen management systems, food safety, EHS, ESG and sustainability, digital trust, regulatory compliance and operational resilience through consulting, implementation, auditing, training and managed services.We are seeking a competent Food Safety Consultant to support our growing portfolio of food safety management system projects across food processing, food manufacturing, packaging, ingredients, FMCG and related industries.2. Job PurposeTo assess, develop, implement and improve Food Safety Management Systems in accordance with FSSC 22000, ISO 22000 and HACCP requirements, helping clients establish effective food safety controls, achieve certification readiness and sustain compliance through practical implementation.3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Food Safety Management System ImplementationImplement ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems and support FSSC 22000 certification readiness.Develop, review and update food safety policies, procedures, SOPs, work instructions and records.Establish and maintain HACCP plans, hazard analysis, hazard control measures, CCPs and operational prerequisite programmes (OPRPs), as applicable.Support implementation of applicable prerequisite programmes (PRPs), including hygiene, sanitation, pest control, personnel practices, maintenance and environmental monitoring, as relevant to the facility.Conduct gap assessments and prepare practical implementation plans.Integrate food safety systems with existing ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems wherever applicable.B. FSSC 22000-Specific RequirementsUnderstand and implement applicable FSSC 22000 scheme requirements and relevant sector-specific prerequisite programme standards.Support compliance with applicable additional scheme requirements, including food defence, food fraud prevention, allergen management, environmental monitoring and food safety culture, as relevant to the applicable scheme version and scope.Monitor applicable scheme updates and communicate implementation requirements to clients.Prepare clients for certification and surveillance audits by certification bodies.C. Audits and Compliance AssessmentsConduct food safety gap assessments, internal audits, hygiene inspections and HACCP verification activities.Evaluate implementation effectiveness through site inspections, interviews, record reviews and process observations.Identify nonconformities, assess root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.Support clients in closing audit findings and preparing for external certification audits.Verify corrective action effectiveness and promote continual improvement.D. Training and Capability BuildingConduct awareness and implementation training on FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, PRPs and food safety practices.Train internal auditors, food safety team members, supervisors and operational personnel.Develop training materials, presentations, checklists and assessment tools.Promote practical food safety awareness and ownership among employees.E. Client and Project ManagementConduct client meetings, understand operational requirements and communicate implementation priorities.Prepare project plans, assessment reports, audit reports and periodic progress updates.Coordinate with client management, quality teams, production, maintenance, warehouse and sanitation personnel.Manage assigned projects within agreed timelines and quality standards.Support proposal preparation, technical discussions and business development activities when required.Travel to client sites as required for assessments, implementation, audits and training.4. Educational QualificationsBachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Agricultural/Food Processing Engineering or a related discipline.A postgraduate qualification in Food Technology, Food Safety or a related field will be an advantage.5. Required Experience and Competencies3–8 years of relevant experience in food safety, quality assurance, food manufacturing or management system consulting.Practical knowledge of ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and HACCP implementation.Knowledge of GMP, GHP, PRPs and applicable food safety regulatory requirements.Ability to conduct gap assessments, prepare HACCP documentation, perform internal audits and deliver training.Experience in food manufacturing or processing environments is strongly preferred.Strong report-writing, communication, presentation and client-handling skills.Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments and deliver projects at client sites.Willingness to travel within India as required.6. Preferred QualificationsRecognized training in ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and HACCP.Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training in ISO 22000 or an equivalent relevant qualification.Practical experience in FSSC 22000 implementation and certification audits.Experience in food processing, dairy, bakery, beverages, spices, seafood, meat, ready-to-eat foods, ingredients or food packaging.Familiarity with applicable FSSAI requirements and relevant customer or export-market food safety expectations.Note: Formal auditor registration, sector-specific competence and certification-body auditor qualifications are distinct from completing a Lead Auditor training course. Candidates should accurately represent their qualifications and audit experience.7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Performance will be evaluated against agreed project targets, including:Timely completion of assigned implementation and assessment projects.Quality and accuracy of documentation and technical deliverables.Effectiveness of HACCP plans and food safety control implementation.Timely closure and verification of audit nonconformities.Client satisfaction and repeat business support.Timely submission of audit reports, project updates and other deliverables.Effective delivery of client training and awareness programmes.8.
