The Fund Manager develops and executes the investment strategy, manages portfolio risk, and ensures the organization’s assets are deployed in alignment with its financial objectives, risk appetite, and stakeholder mandates. This role requires a visionary leader with deep expertise in capital markets, asset management, and financial risk who can operate at both the strategic and operational levels.Key Responsibilities1. Investment Strategy & Portfolio ManagementDefine and execute the organization’s overall investment strategy and asset allocation framework.Oversee diversified portfolios spanning equities, fixed income, alternatives, real estate, and private markets.Lead investment committee meetings and present recommendations to the Board.Monitor macroeconomic trends and adjust portfolio positioning accordingly.Drive returns relative to benchmarks while maintaining adherence to mandate constraints.2. Risk Management & GovernanceEstablish and enforce the organization’s risk management policies, limits, and frameworks.Oversee market, credit, liquidity, and operational risk across all investment activities.Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, fiduciary duties, and internal governance standards.Report to the Board and Audit/Risk Committee on portfolio risk exposures and performance.3. Team Leadership & Talent DevelopmentBuild, lead, and mentor a high-performing investment team of portfolio managers, analysts, and traders.Foster a culture of intellectual rigor, collaboration, and accountability.Define team structure, roles, and performance objectives in line with organizational goals.Attract and retain top investment talent in a competitive market.4. Stakeholder Management & ReportingServe as the primary investment spokesperson to the Board, investors, regulators, and key clients.Provide regular, transparent reporting on portfolio performance, attribution, and outlook.Build and maintain relationships with external asset managers, custodians, consultants, and counterparties.Represent the organization at industry forums and investor conferences.5. Technology, Analytics & InnovationChampion the adoption of advanced analytics, quantitative methods, and investment technology.Drive continuous improvement in investment processes, systems, and data infrastructure.Leverage AI, machine learning, and data science to enhance decision-making and alpha generation.Qualifications & ExperienceEducationBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field – required.Master’s degree (MBA, MSc Finance) or equivalent advanced qualification – strongly preferred.CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder – highly desirable.Additional certifications: CAIA, FRM, or equivalent – advantageous.ExperienceMinimum 10 years of progressive experience in investment management, asset management, or a related financial discipline.Should have global listed equities experience (mandatory)At least 5 years in a senior investment leadershipDemonstrated track record of managing large, multi-asset portfolios across market cycles.Experience operating in institutional settings such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance, endowments, or asset managers.Exposure to private markets, alternative investments, and illiquid asset classes is highly desirable.Skills & CompetenciesExceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills.Deep knowledge of financial markets, instruments, valuation, and portfolio construction.Strong quantitative capabilities and fluency with investment analytics tools.Outstanding communication and presentation skills – ability to distill complex ideas for diverse audiences.Decisive leadership with the ability to manage through ambiguity and market volatility.Proven ability to build trust with Boards, regulators, and senior stakeholders.High integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to fiduciary responsibility
